A summary of what PoE currently is...

Single player (with the option of co-op) "online" only, free to try (play), action combat (with a limited role) game, where you pick from a choice of animations to kill monsters, loot their pixel, keep/equip what you need to kill the next until you've killed all or should I say the last/final.

Now, let me ask the community, how many games are out there like this? Who gets paid or should I say "job" is to motivate me wanting to sink my time killing monsters in their game, especially if I already knew I can do that? If I did play for the "experience", might as well spend 10 minutes on youtube, or watch one of the many streamers to see the new monster/boss encounter. If I did play so I can kill monsters better or should I say be more successful at killing em from my "competition" for some third party website number is that enough to motivate me?

I made a "special" for the community, or at least for those who enjoy my (creator) "content", a term streamers like using these days, which you can read below. Now, that Expedition was revealed I appreciate all who're able and choosing to participate on the forum, so I too will gladly contribute.

Spoiler

Path of Exile for most is a "luxury", because the more money one can earn the greater the cost becomes playing the game. If this company can receive 172 million USD within two years for the type of game I described above it says a lot about the state of the industry, and how easy or should I say profitable is still to make the same game that's been made hundred of times by now. It's called being desperate, where many are hoping the money they'll spend will lead to better or more rewarding EXP, but sadly that's far from the truth. To find something you want to use/spend the money you've earned brings happiness just like earning it, so it can also be challenging finding something in this world where you want (enjoy) spending your money, and later on I'll cover that too.

My notion is Tencent-GGG doesn't need more money, because they're already swimming in it, and that's why Tencent-GGG resembles Activision-Blizzard a lot today, where they release a new game within the same genre every 1-2 decade with improved graphics, while indie developers release these same type of games every 6-12 months. Bobby Kotick net worth is 600 million, and I don't even wanna start talking about Chris Roberts from Star Citizen.

Pay a lot attention on indie developers like the Chris Wilson version from a decade ago, because they're the ones without hundred of millions of net worth, who're more willing to compete in giving you a superior product, a product designed in mind with the best interest for you first, where eventually you'll migrate to, the same how many of you already migrated from Activision-Blizzard.

When the superior product arrives most stick with it out of loyalty, and then there's a push back (resistance/response) to competition, and only to maintain stock value for the investors, since the owners/CEO's are already set for life. The future in this industry are products made with the best interest (intention) for you the "consumer", which is why most of us did reward Chris Wilson generously. Free to play used to be the best monetizing model a decade ago for marketing purposes, but now that's an outdated model. Get "paid" / "rewarded" to play is the future for this industry now. Get paid to play our "quality" product, and the better you are playing it against a certain percent of the player base the more you'll get paid/rewarded. How much the player base gets paid from "winning" will be the difference factor.

There's also this double standard often companies use where they prevent the player to decide if it wants to win more in real life through trading safely within the game, while the company or through alternative methods a small minority gains (wins) a lot more "success", because they eliminate "you" (their competition). Look at streamers and how excited they get from tips and subs, and why many of them are still playing games they wouldn't play today. The more popular streamers are still showing appreciation, but they don't get as excited to subs and tips, and they surely don't need to do more like organize/promote, and deliver what's in your best interest.

I'm sure many remember how GGG wouldn't give out a single support pack for the winner when I approached them after we managed to crowdfund a private league, where around 300 participated on a short notice. I started promoting the league because nobody cared (showed an interest) to make the effort to help make this game a better and more rewarding experience, and if not to all at least to many within the community, and that right there was the turning point. Later on those who were exposed like some of the most successful PoE streamers started doing more alongside GGG. At the end if your heart or should I say mind (intent) is at the right place the success (and how much) will come on its own through time, and we have yet to receive events that are designed for our best interest, and I've also covered that in the past.

When I'm reading some of the posts here and on Reddit I see how so many are clueless of what they want, which is expected, and mainly from a lack of EXP. If you climb on a hill you'll see and want to go to the mountain, and once you climb on that mountain you'll see and want to go across the rainbow, and once you go across the rainbow you'll see and want to travel to this new civilization. That's the nature of humans, always wanting based on what they need from their current situation, which is always more and better or easier EXP (help), which is why this planet is so much different from the prehistoric era. What I want you'll want at the same time once you reach, and understand better my situation (experience).

The good news is there's always hope we'll receive better than what's already available, and sadly we might be in our 60's, 70's or 80's by then, and that's why MONEY is important. You'll ALWAYS need money, remember that. You'll need money for...

1) Start and be able to support/care for a family.
2) Have a better EXP with those you like spending time with.
3) Treat yourself with healthier and more delicious food.
4) Spend every day in the year doing exactly what you want.
5) Invest & hire ppl to make games you want first to play yourself, and then hopefully for others.
6) Get a private and better (superior) health care, and improve/extend your lifespan.
7) Live at a better location, and enjoy being able to afford travelling to more locations, where you can be as long as you want.
8) Be in a better position to influence/impact/lead the world you're a part of. Invest in other things beside gaming like in health research.
9) Be surrounded by people who're ready and willing to do things/service for you.
10) Never worry or experience stress due to lack of money. Enjoy more security and safety from the challenges others are dealing with.

I've been fortunate to live a truly exceptional life over the past decades, and as I'm getting into the second half of my life I understand better what I want and why, which is why I've been voting with my wallet better than anyone in the past decade. What Expedition revealed was nothing exceptional (better) than the many past leagues. They added extra monsters and skills, increased the difficulty in the default mode to compensate from decreasing it and called it a day. Chris and ZiggyD were completely mum about the one thing that would interest me and many, like what they're doing to motivate me and the rest to be a part of this game, and more importantly wanting to support what they're doing.

I didn't hear a single thing about GGG involvement (plans) in promoting special and rewarding consistent events, which is why I was already prepared to be disappointed. The one thing I can hope for and be optimistic about is the improved difficulty (so called nerfs) will somehow make future events more competitive, because increased difficulty allows one to separate more. None of that was mentioned and it's why my wallet will remain closed. If I choose to play this game "freely" for a few weeks it's mainly out of loyalty, since I can expect similar EXP elsewhere, and I do still want to remain the most avid gamer of our generation.

September 30th 2021 financial report is what I'm more "hyped" about. The day I'll start hearing announcements about why I should play/practice this and other future leagues (overall this game)I'll be making decisions if what they're doing is indeed within my best interest first, and enough to financially support that concept (vision) to continue. Personally, I like competing with others, because not only I can compare myself, and how good I am (which is already something I know I'm better from pretty much everyone), but the pleasure of taking something that's limited, finite, valuable, something that I know many will want and will be competing for, but only those who are deserving/worthy will have it, and pixels (MTX) aren't going to cut it, not in the way the core game is designed.

Finally, I will always be thankful to GGG for delivering this product and giving me the opportunity to continue playing it freely, and I will continue doing that until the next Chris Wilson arrives if this one doesn't keep up delivering or should I say use the resources (support) for what's best for me, for what I know it can be done. It's indeed a luxury to play Expedition for the first few weeks (or as much as I want), while passing on the thousands of dollars I would receive elsewhere, where I could also have "fun".

"Why should I give them money if they already have money" yeah that's good logic right there. Got my reasons for not buying anything from them for a good while but that's just childish.

If you don't like the game, don't play.
The rest of your post is pointless.
~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.
I never understood this kind of post.

This is not a life or death situation online friend. Nobody is forcing you to play or buy anything from this game.

All you have to do is stop playing and move on or wait until they make changes that you will like.

I have supported GGG for a long time and I have loved and hated it many leagues.

In fact there are many leagues where I only played for about a week and quit.

What did I do after that?
I enjoyed life or played something else plain and simple.

Remember not everything should be about you.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
I will pay if they give me fun. For example, I paid points to buy several skins about my preferred skills such as cyclone, ball lightning, etc. In contrast, if the game itself(this league, or maybe next league) is very boring, I will not pay anything for lots of nerf. Nerf is ok but reward is necessary. If Chris only pay attention to the top players, why casual players should support this game?

This part is true but I would call it a lack of education not lack of experience. A lot of the people uh ... 'giving feedback' we'll call it to be charitable - don't know even the slightest basics of psychology, economics, game design, or the way the real world works (which would fall under EXP). To borrow a phrase from our friends at ActiBlizz, they think they know what they want, but they don't.

It's to be expected to some extent, I'm sure there are a lot of young people playing the game.

Your definition of avid gamer has quite the standards!

Except it's your logic since I never made the statement you're quoting. The closest thing you're trying to quote me on is mentioning that "I don't believe Tencent-GGG needs as much money, and I made a further argument why it felt like that based my own experience.

Money is always a factor and people will always be motivated by it, a topic I've discussed on before, but how much someone needs money is a whole different argument. If I felt I shouldn't give them money because they already have a lot I wouln't spent $30 last year.

$10 to help crowdfund a private league around Feb
$10 to extend some stash inventory in the summer (I only have 20 reg tabs)
$10 3-4 weeks into Heist, because I felt they lost a lot of supporters after Heist.
