don't feel as a h'n's anymore
Been here since 2012.
Was laid off for 6 months last year, played a lot. Currently playing another game for a break. Chris better get 4.0 right, is all I can hope for. ~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.

PoE is
- crafting - farming for currency - trading - cheating (bots, rmt, etc.) finding items (the main entertainment in an arpg for me) has become less and less part of the game and has taken another massive hit with harvest crafting where I just follow a recipe to cook up an item. of course you can blend out everything and just play the game the way you want to. That doesn't make the game better but ignorance is usually bliss. And I try to be as ignorant as I can in the past few years. “Human decency is not derived from religion. It precedes it.”

The performance is devastating and not acceptable in the slightest. I dont know what they need to do to get the game to have stable frames where the game plays smoothly. But they need to do it.
The loot hunt is largely gone except for a very very few cases (uniques). Rare items on the ground, might as well remove them. Just have them drop as white bases. Its 100% a currency/crafting game at this point. What they need to do is reduce the loot that drops substantially like 95% of it. and let the players have control over what drops in the endgame. One example could be instead of scarabs being used for extra monsters it could have been used to influence the drops in maps. Instead of additional breaches it could be rare boots drops with a guaranteed movement speed modifier. That together with reducing the amount of loot would bring back some of the loot hunt. |

" Agreed |

" What, you don't find good items that you can sell? |

it struck me hard when i realized - after like 20 maps - all my loot ive picked up (i use my own lootfilter, so noone told me what to pick) went straight into affinity tabs (and i do not have all of them, far from it). ALL OF IT.
that was a nice big 'what?' moment. where is the loot? is this game finally reached the stage of collect GOLD to buy stuff? wasnt the entire point of POEs currency system to get AWAY from GOLD? but yet, here we are, we are picking GOLD to buy our items sure, people still pick items up, but im pretty sure the group is shrinking with each league. the more veteran you are, the less and less items you pick up because you know it is just a bad idea out of the items you pick, all regular rares are automatically filtered out, from the influenced bases all low level are filtered out, all bad bases are filtered out and all base-influence combos that offer nothing interesting are filtered out uniques - sure, almost any can be used, my fav playstyle is making junk items into endgame builds (weak, but still) but stuff like sub 300pdps one handers without some outrageous mod (Paradoxica, Saviour) or non-swords in general are pretty much left on the ground then there is the HORRIBLE 'spicing maps up' ritual of throwing random garbage into map device, rolling scarabs (clicking very small UI elements precisely several times..) and i just vomit internally and thats why Heist is what i like a lot - you still collect gold, but you have a chance for a nice synth base from time to time and there is 0 overhead required to run it POE is a good game, character building is satisfying but the loot aspect is bloated and shallow at the same time. thats an achievement but not praise worthy to be honest |

Standard problems. Plenty of synth bases in Ritual.

we cant ignore the fact that the most played league so far was Delirium, a super fast pace league with pretty much ignoring every loot on the ground beside currency and maps. most of the player base seems to enjoy it that way
|
|
" Why do you say that? PoE had peak player number on Steam, 157,091, in January this year, so Ritual is the most played league. If we go by average players then Delirim and Metamorph are very close to each other. Both leagues were drastically different too. |

Agreed. I'm playing the game very casualy since 2013. I make a new char almost every league, and dump it afther a few days.
The game is not fun anymore for me. From my point of view, the heart of this kind of game is the loot. You kill mobs, you have a tiny chance to get a good and rare item to kill harder mobs. Poe is not like this anymore since years, it's some sorts of crafting simulator. I dont want to farm orbs, I dont want to farm harvest, I want to loot an unique item that will makes me stonger. I dont want to have to deal with 1000 3th party programms, I dont want to spend dozen of hours crafting, making mission, crafting my own fucking atlas for no reason and other shits that just makes the game cluncky and over complicated. I think POE is dead and hope that they are working on a completly fresh POE 2. Its sad to think that, back in 2013, I had more endgame fun grinding the same boss for hours with random people, hoping to drop THAT unique that will make me stronger, than now with the huge messing endgame we have to grind alone. |
