After crashing can't close the program even through task manager.
Same issue. Vulcan in borderless window. It's really killing my enjoyment

Still happening for me. Why is there no word on this? It's a huge issue and it undercuts the league mechanic completely, making it really difficult to justify interacting with it at all. I've lost at least a dozen ultimatums to it now. Crashes alone are bad enough, but having to hard power off my computer several times a day is completely unacceptable.

It might also help to point out, that it might also be that on top of the game crashing, the game also crashed your monitor, luckily it doesn't crash my second so I can just turn it back on.

That isn't at all the case for me, the computer works perfectly fine independently of the crashed POE client, which cannot be closed by any means I've discovered and continues to use about 3.5-4 GB of RAM, making opening another one and just leaving up the crashed client a poor solution. This happened with the Steam client and I switched last league to standalone because of it, but clearly to no avail.

Im not op but im dealing with this issues as well.
Furthest Ive got was to the GGG intro. It makes the whole screen black and nothing can close it - including executing the program with task manager. Thats only if you can actually use the task manager in the first place. Most of the time everything is stuck behind the black screen, regardless of what you click. Even if you pull it up through Control Alt Delete, it never comes to the foreground, even with "always in front" option being on. The only way you can even see it is to VIEW your available windows to alt-tab to. Nothing happens when you try to tab to another screen though. A lot of people have stated that they have to restart their whole computer just to get it closed - I usually just log out through ctrl-alt-delete instead. Very annoying.
small update, the recent windows 10 update reseted my CPU to 1 which was annoying but an easy fix, if It happened to my PC, doesn't hurt to check that.
Been running for a good hour so fingers crossed, other than that, the ultimatum events seems to be eating alot of GPU power, might not do much but upping your fan settings might help Last edited by AidonX on Apr 24, 2021, 5:40:27 AM

after the last patch i thought it was fixed but just crashed again. i dont mind the crash but vulkan kills my pc. have to kill the power and reboot that way.
dx11 is so fucked for me i cant get over 20 fps. so yeah pls fix
" Ya the optimization of this game is a big mess. Wouldn't be surprised if PoE 2 becomes unplayable for most setups by the time it comes out considering more content has been making the stability of this game worse. Even games with more graphics than PoE can run on a modern day potato for crying out loud. Last edited by AidonX on Apr 24, 2021, 7:00:28 AM

Since there's been so much talk about texture streaming recently, I was thinking maybe this issue had something to do with it as well. So I did the temporary fix for it as well and I haven't had a crash since NOTE: I've only played for around 4-6 hours, I'll update if I crash.
If you play PoE through steam, right click PoE -> Properties -> In launch options put: -waitforpreload If you don't: Go to your PoE folder (not the filter one, the one where your client is) -> Right click Client.exe -> Make shortcut and pull it to your desired destination -> Rick click the shortcut, in "Target" at the end you put: --waitforpreload (yes 2 dashes instead of 1) Not only do I think it fixed this issue, it also fixed some insane lag i had and textures missing glitch where I literally couldn't see half the mobs I was fighting and sometimes some weird eye cancer texture pop ups.
Second update,
Crashed after 2 hours in, second time, computer crash. SO I deleted my driver completely, reinstalled it, game crash, so no fix there, SO I tried something different, figured perhaps it might be a bloatware issure on the card. SO I used 2 things 1.Display Driver Uninstaller 2.NVclean install So 1 deletes EVERYTHING from the driver 2 lets you pick what to install in your driver rather than going through GeForce or the AMD variant which shoves things you don't need like 3D, streaming, recording and the like. So far managed to play for 6 hours without a crash in windows mode, moved to fullscreen window and played 3 hours without a crash. Added the steam fixes just to be on the safe side. Might not work for others but it's worth a try. |
