Hi guys - i'm following the lightning variant build. I'm right now stuck at the stage where I feel my gear is outdated but I don't know what is the weakest part of my gear so I can devote my limited resources to updating it. Please help!

It's hard to say for sure without knowing your current level but I'd guess that everything but your helmet could probably be upgraded significantly for 1-2 chaos each. Just focus on life/resists on all the armor slots and damage on the quiver and bow. 2-3 good stats per item is a good baseline.

Hi Ziggy, thanks for your reply. Sorry for a follow-up noob question, but when you said "upgrade for 1-2 chaos each", are you referring to using the chaos orb on my current items for re-rolling the stats, or are you saying I can trade 1-2 chaos orb for a better item from other players?
Basically...i'm asking if I'm supposed to be trading with other players in order to get better items at this stage, or should i be re-rolling.
I'm lvl 67 btw (yes i know, my items really suck)
Trade for better items and spend <2 chaos on each. I've done that and the wall I am at now is merc piety. If you keep an eye out for deals you might even be able to double the power of most of your items.

Personally I am not sure what I need to do next to beat piety. I think I need more damage since clearing lunaris is slower than I think it should be. I'm 72 and here is the spec/items:

Any suggestions? I have probably an exalt if I liquified all my currency down. I am currently farming docks as much as I can.

I think by far the biggest thing is that you are running LA on a 4 link at the moment - that'll be hurting your clear speed tremendously. Top priority for you now is getting a 5 link chest so you can add in chain.

Hello everyone im new to poe, just started today. I just finished reading through this build and it sounds great. It looks like a good place for me to start out. I was just wondering if the recent patches, since this was updated, have made any major or notable changes to the passive tree or any other important aspects?
Hi there guys,

I am now lvl 55 with this build and enjoying it pretty much.
ziggyd - it is very pleasant and fun to follow you here and on youtube, keep it up!

I have several questions about this build (and one that its not related)

1. Since we have blood magic and do not use mana, the prefix on a item - "leach as mana" will be leached to life instead?
2. Why in frenzy not to use Lesser Multiple Projectiles? it can add 2 arrows which means triple the dmg output? (if all 3 hits)
3. I notice that my char is in domination league, and as i found out now, the league finishes this month (or next). what happens to the char, items, stash?

cheers!
Hey,

I have a question about the 'Iron Reflexes' skill. In this build you have alot of dexterity which initially provides evasion. 1% evasion per 5 dex. Quite alot.

By using 'Iron Reflexes' you are wasting this bonus as the evasion from dexterity will NOT be converted to armor as it clearly states. Does it not seem weird to go for 'Iron Reflexes'?

To Potatooman
1. Mana leech won't convert to life leech for BM users.
2.Only certain skills(F.Pulse,Fireball) can shotgun. Bow skills can never have more than one projectile hit the same target.
3.It will all go to standard league if i am not mistaken.

To ViBoNaCci
IR is used since armour is a reliable defence as it always mitigate damage. Also, once you reach late game, you have the option of switching from BM build to using aura. Grace aura plus IR will provide a lot of armour. If you don't want IR, you can use Determination instead. IR also is nice since it makes gearing easier.
I recently started playing PoE and orientate at the LA- Ranger Build by ZiggyD:

Even if it is meant to be the of the easy beginner guides i think i made some wrong decisions in skilling and equipping my ranger.

So if someone has suggestions for me playing this Build - please do not hold back.

I think i am way too squishy with about

3K Life
1488 Armor
15% Fire Resi
75% Cold Resistance
56% Lightning Resistance
- 60 Chaos Resistance.

Default Attack deals 835.2 DPS

The Lightning Arrow deals 403.5 DPS
Spoiler
Since this is my only 5 Linked Item i do not know which gems best to use in it.

Frenzy deals 1297 DPS

I perhaps would like to try some auras - but then my life is about halfed.

So please tell me what you think of that.

Thanks in Advance.

Perhaps i will upload a video of Gameplay later on. First have to Fraps some Material.

Your passive tree looks fine. I would suggest getting more life nodes especially the awesome Purity of Flesh cluster.

As for your equipments, look for rares with hp and resist. The unique glove and helm is what i'll upgrade first.Your ruby ring mods aren't very useful as well. Use poe.xyz.is to find upgrades.

As for your flasks, try and roll them with alterations for useful mods. Use this Ziggy's flask video as a reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN9yx00PzDg.

Your CODT setup can be improved. I personally use it with enduring cry for the endurance charges, decoy totem/summon skeleton for distracting mobs, molten shell/enfeeble/temp chains.
You can also use LifeGainOnHit with your LA for instant heal.

I have a question about the weapon elemental damage support gem. I just found a pretty good bow that added both fire and cold damage. So now my lightning arrow has fire, cold, and lightning damage from main hand. So if I replace my current added fire damage gem with the weapon elemental damage would I see a better boost in damage? I'm trying to figure out new ways to squeeze more damage out of the build. Just transitioned into blood magic, its very efficient but I wish I was hitting a bit harder.
