Can someone offer me some advice on where I went wrong with my Ranger? I'm now level 40 and stuck on Dominus in normal mode (haven't even cleared the mobs). It isn't just this fight though. I've really struggled with this character since the beginning and I'm not sure why. I've used Ziggy's guides to build a Marauder and a Scion that have both steamrolled normal.I don't know if it is my gear, my passives, lack of skill with this character or something else, but something doesn't seem right. Any advice would be appreciated!

If I had to guess I would say I went wrong somewhere in the passive tree. I've browsed through several pages of posts in this topic, and it would appear most people have already acquired Blood Magic by the time they reached 40.

I'd post my gear, but um...haven't figured out how to do that yet :(

I'd respec out of Iron Grip and the str node before it, and pick up Blood drinker.
I'm now back in game.
Hey Ziggy o/ Do you have a thread for you current gear on WraeclastSurvivalist ? I can't seem to find out what it is.
Fish
Fantastic starter guide ZiggyD.

The only part that may worry a new player is the GENERAL GEARING REQUIREMENTS & TIPS FOR ALL VARIANTS part.

While vets understand about prioritizing mods/stats and understand that trading will get mostly what is needed, new players or the not so blooded player may not.Likely leaving them feeling their gear is way inadequate for not having all the mods on you've listed.

I would suggest making it a bit clearer that the mods on gear are priority chosen and that missing a mod or two on pieces of gear is bound to happen.

Like make a note and bold the required mods for gear on so forth) and list downward in importance. (eg. Weapon most important damage, then attack speed/leech,so on so forth)

Note:bolded is required order of importance top to bottom

Weapon

% damage physical
Flat damage physical
Life leech
attack speed
projectile speed
Something like that.

Anyway,it's a top notch guide,thanks a lot. =)

Can someone tell me what I need to do to make my ranger viable? I'm fine with big groups but big single enemies kill me so hard now that I'm in cruel.

I actually misread the build and wasted a 6 passive refunds which is why I'm slightly behind where I should be at this point.

What is your current armor reduction currently?

I don't think it matters a lot until later on, but this build was my first character, but after playing a character that utilizes aura's, I realized how important keeping armor up as high as possible on a BM ranger is. Previously I was using a 500 evasion chest since it was 5 link, but I switched back to my 800+evasion 4 link chest and my clear speed of merciless L3/piety actually got faster because I had to play less defensively, I'm now trying to obtain a 500-600 armor/evasion helmet, which should help out a lot.
I'm now back in game.

I'm currently at 45% armour with 75, 44 and 24 as my resistances. Block at stun recover +23%, 34.6 life regen, 48 physical reflected to melee, and -4% run. Finding better armour with links that are useful is proving difficult.

Guess that's not a problem, your damage reduction is currently higher than mine, lol. Could be your resist, what enemies are hurting you? I know there is those skellys in act 2 that do melee and projectile lightning damage, and some that do melee cold damage.
I'm now back in game.
Lvl 68 in act 3 merciless atm, trying to progress through final parts of the act and I'm very disappointed in the build tbh. 3.35k life, 950ish dps on my LA. DPS feels average at best and survivability is just low. I feel I gimped myself way too much going after Static blows and wasting point after point after point on traveling nodes with +10 stat. And static blows dont feel worth the effort. By the time you stack enough shocks to feel the damage increase enemy is supposed to be dead anyway. I cannot help but wonder, wouldn't points invested into Resolute Technique and Static Blows be better spent somewhere in the actual Ranger tree on proper +accuracy and +crit.

And if you aren't taking RT, how far down the strength tree do you want to go really? Blood Magic was fun to lvl with, but I just wonder if atm, approaching 70 auras would be more helpful. And if you arent taking BM, might as well spec out of Iron grip. Only strength you'll be taking is the ones leading to IG anyway.

So im seriously considering respeccing, going only as far as Iron reflexes in the "left" direction and picking up proper bow nodes instead.

That said, it's my first experience with merc act 3. Maybe it's supposed to be this hard and disappointing? I dunno, but the guys i farm docks and lunaris with seem to have much better DPS and survivability.

Whats your experience with the build in A3merc guys? Particularly those who have other chars who progressed this far into the game. Need advice here, respeccing would cost me all of my cash of 1 ex and a bunch of c, but not respeccing i feel like giving up on a character.
Same here. Somehow feels like a gimp upped char.
Made it to level 80 now. Floowing this guide.
Can hardly handel Maps. Deal like no damage.
And the other downside, nothing ever drops beacause I
have no IIR.

All resis max. 4.2k HP. But if grouping up. Everyone
else kinda kills everything pretty fast. I need 10x the
time they do.

4l Frenzy at 2067dps
5l chain LA with 585.
