The Easiest of the Easy Beginner Build Guides [1.1 SotV UPDATED]
my question is really simple.... ¿is there a concern about taking BM right when i can do it or is best to wait 3-5 more levels and get hp and regen nodes first?
i´m sitting in about 1.2k hp in lvl 34, which i know isn´t that much, i´m like 3 levels away from Bm though. |

" You're probably fine to take BM at this point. The key to knowing when to take this keystone is looking at your health regen (in the defense tab of your character sheet). This will be health regen per second. Take that and factor in any life leach and life gain on hit. If this total is more than the mana cost of your primary skill, you'll be fine. Keep in mind that for LGoH and Life leach, these apply for each enemy hit, not per attack. So, if you're getting 18 life from LGoH, using LMP and pierce, you could get up to 54 life per shot if none of the arrows pierce, more if they do and hit other enemies behind the group you're shooting at. |

I have a really stupid question:
I'm near the point where I've filled out all 80 points in the skill tree What am I going to do after that? I don't really know what to do with the info " And yes, I'm a noob. :D |

i just went and took the BM keystone and has work perfect, i´m rolling a Life on hit and no problems so far (mana is the worst thing in the universe). I had the issue of life regen being sufficient for mantaining BM, but thats not an issue whit Life on hit (an eventually life leech) i have no lose of hp if i hit something (frenzy is another history though, but 3 life flasks and a granite solves the problem)
as far as i know life leech works better than life on hit IF your damage is high enough, so, calculate the amount leeched by your hits and compare whit the life on hit, and work from there =) all the way, great guide, i´m having a really easy time leveling this char (until BM was a bitch) so far... hoping to get good 5L soon (or even a 6 link if i´m lucky whit drops and selling) and blast my way to maps. |

Hey ZiggyD (or any other person more knowledgeable than me),
I noticed in your latest walkthrough video that you were using the new support gem - physical projectile attack damage - with LA. I tested it out myself, but so far (at level 4) the dps increase isn't much greater over say, faster projectiles. I wager it's because PPAD lowers attack speed and only increases physical damage (LA is 50/50 phys/lightning AFAIK). My question is, does PPAD eventually outscale other support gems like faster projectiles or faster attacks as it levels up? If so, which gem would you swap out for PPAD in your 6 link LA setup? Another related question is how well does PPAD work with Frenzy? Is there a gem you'd swap out for PPAD in the 6 link frenzy setup? Thanks very much for the guide. It's been working out great so far and really starting to hit its stride! |

Level 41 and took Blood Magic as early as reasonable (took most life nodes, skipped Ballistic Mastery and Heart of Oak detour) and my gear is really terrible. Blood Magic makes a huge difference with your speed and survivability. If you can stay reasonably safe in general I suggest taking it early. There's so much life on the way to BM from start that leaving Mana behind is just awesome.
I have hardly any life gear either, and very little regen, and NO leach / LGoH gems yet, and still I'd prefer Blood Magic over Mana any day. Spamming your skills makes everything so much easier than carefully getting Mana to decent levels. Would be interested if anyone had the opposite experience because I don't think it's just my playstyle but rather that your life pool is huge and native regen is like 5x better than your mana pool by the time you can punch the Blood Magic keystone. |

@Catabu,
what i think ZiggyD ment is that if you look at the passive tree the ranger part to be excact. (look at the start of the tree) around the starting area more right and right and up and right and downwards you will find nodes decined to increase bow damage/accuracy/crit hits etc. you can just take what you think your guy will need. What i think ZiggyD also means is that your guy is up and running and you can just try certain stuff out and see what you will like best and what will work best for your guy. hope this helps a little bit Regards Relord |

Can someone offer me some advice on where I went wrong with my Ranger? I'm now level 40 and stuck on Dominus in normal mode (haven't even cleared the mobs). It isn't just this fight though. I've really struggled with this character since the beginning and I'm not sure why. I've used Ziggy's guides to build a Marauder and a Scion that have both steamrolled normal.I don't know if it is my gear, my passives, lack of skill with this character or something else, but something doesn't seem right. Any advice would be appreciated!

If I had to guess I would say I went wrong somewhere in the passive tree. I've browsed through several pages of posts in this topic, and it would appear most people have already acquired Blood Magic by the time they reached 40. I'd post my gear, but um...haven't figured out how to do that yet :( |

Can someone tell me what I need to do to make my ranger viable? I'm fine with big groups but big single enemies kill me so hard now that I'm in cruel.

I actually misread the build and wasted a 6 passive refunds which is why I'm slightly behind where I should be at this point. Last edited by NovaStalker#3662 on Dec 18, 2013, 7:57:36 AM
