Assailum's Snipe visual effect stacks and stays until zone change

When you use the snipe skill, a visual effect starts playing as you channel, however it doesnt go away once you release. Starting a new channel stacks a second effect on top, and so it keeps going. The visual effect disappears on zone change, here is a clip to demonstrate.

This severely hampers your FPS, and as you can see in the above clip i was able to cut my FPS in half fairly quickly.

Weird. I can't reproduce this locally. Have you noticed any pattern to when this happens? does changing which skills you have linked to snipe or how long you charge for affect it? Does it still happen if you remove your other gear and have just the helmet and bow?

I've made an issue to get it looked into, but anything you can provide that helps narrow down how to make this happen will be useful to fixing it.
I'm more and more convinced that the only way to get PoE run properly is by using your local test bench.

For me Snipe works like that with any bow/quiver/skill/supports, default and custom client graphics settings, with/without sound enabled. I've never seen the "correct visual effect".

Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything
Result: depressing mess

Did some testing.

It happens if i log into the character wearing zero items and no jewels of any sort, nothing in inventory, also no MTX. (bow and helm were in the stash upon login)

The length of the channel does not seem to have any effect.

Tried unallocating ghost dance, and various other notables and keystones, no change.

Asked another player if he could see the effect, he couldnt.

Tested every setting in the graphics tab, didnt discover anything.

Number of skills socketed in the item doesnt seem to change anything, tested 0 through 4.

It persists even if i unequip the helm and bow, put on a different bow from my stash, and use an ability with it. (or if i just run around naked with nothing in my inventory)

Happens with different bows and with or without quiver.

Looked at the characters of other people reporting the bug, and couldnt find many common elements. One (of the two) is a trickster (same as me), but the other is a deadeye. Other than that i cant think of anything they could have in common with my naked character.

Couldnt think of anything else to test, let me know if theres anything else i can do.

Edit: It does not happen if you release before gaining any charge stages. If you do so, the visual effect under the characters feet will briefly appear and disappear, but the effect on the bow will never appear.

Edit2: Asked a friend to equip the helm and a bow, and then use snipe a few times next to me. He did not get the bug on his end, but it did appear on his character on my client.

That in particular is super weird, and therefore interesting - this implies the bug might be specific to certain clients/settings/etc rather than anything about the character or skill, which is definitely good to know for trying to test and fix it. Thanks heaps for testing that stuff out, I will pass on this info.

Post things like your PC specs etc and try thing along the lines of what Oaken did. Read the sticky as well..tells you what sorta things to post.

Tested the following things to see if I could make this bug go away, but to no avail:

- Removing other items and MTX on character
- Updating graphics card drivers
- Clearing all cached files
- Doing a clean install of Steam client
- Installing the standalone client

Computer specs: Intel i5-3570K, Geforce GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro 1909
Occurs consistently for me too.

Tried changing every graphical setting from low to high, still persisted.
Happens in hideout and combat zones.
Tested on a character with no MTX.
Using standalone client.

Windows 10 64-bit, Intel i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 970M
