Mana-based Gems and Stormbind Demo

If you have an insane amount of mana, for the moment it's hard to tell if arcane cloak is a better choice than mind over matter. After all MOM doesn't have any cooldown and it works automatically so you are never out of activating (because 90% of deaths happen in less than 0.1 sec).

Wait and see.

How would Archmage support interact with Unleash or Spell Echo.
Since the successive casts don't cost mana do they not benefit from the bonus?
Or because most on effect/cast things are based on the initialcast for Unleash and Spell Echo, do they also benefit from the mana cost damage bonus?

I'm not sure why this has to be pointed out, but you are not the only human being playing this game - meaning that **you** not wanting to use that gem does not make it generally useless.
How viable Archmage is depends entirely on how crazy the scaling can get with, say, 6k unreserved mana.

Also, it sounds like it won't work with spell totem which sadly kills it for Hierophant.

You're obviously supposed to use both at the same time. Arcane Cloak doesn't suddenly start reserving mana, it uses the mana on activation and then it can immediately start regenerating. Not even MoM character will use arcane cloak, but I suspect every arcane cloak character will already be using MoM.

So, metamorph was supposed to get us using lots of new ranged skills and supports, and wow, wasn't that a success (not).

I fear the same here.

Well you could argue that pets are a form of "ranged skills". ;)

There is a human being out there that said PoE really does not have enough skills we really must add more?

My guess is to create the skills themselves they can probably do it with a simple command line or something; /create skill {name}, {tags}, {cost} {effects}, mim dmg, max damage, hit enter aaaaaand done! Ok I mean they probably don't do it via some command line but my guess is it's probably really easy for them to create any skill. Even balancing the skill they probably don't need to do much as they know the min max dps values they know they want to aim for early and late game.

with all this mana skills maybe u can get away with using the clarity aura for mana regen and no other reserve skill-
i kinda like the feeling of trhowing big chunks of your mana on a super offensive spell.

looking forward to try all the new stuff
now we only need to see what is new to Strength gems!

stormbind explosion effect seems weak to me.
I don't know why you nor anyone looks at these skill/spell previews and judges how weak or strong it will be when the person demonstrating that skill/spell doesn't have a full build optimized around it nor the items or linked gems to boost its damage and/or even its speed. It's just a "preview" so not worth judging a skill/spell until it's released and people play around with it.
