Jeweler's Orbs and Orbs Of Fusing - enough is enough!
" You made the choice to gamble rather than trade your currency for better equipment. That seems like a perfectly fair thing to screw you for. It's a player choice after all. |

" THAT'S the key to my claims: you have no other choice but to gamble. buy a better item? my Marauder's Armour is +to HP +to all resists +great armour rating. it's got 5 sockets and 3 links. in the unconnected socket, sits a support gem which could make my life a lot easier in Merciless, when combined with the other skills on this armour. do you think I have the guts to attempt a Fusing on it, risking the loss of 2/3 my active skills? I don't. I will not let that fucking orb kill my best character, when it has already killed my second-best. nor do I have the exalts and divines to buy an epic armour from Kripp and friends, even if I could find them in the sea of spam known as the Trade Chat. I wish they would decrease the chances of getting 6Ls when fusing. They're way too high right now. In a few months everyone will have a 6L and they will lose their value and prestige.
The pen is mightier than the sword, yet it is more permanent than a pencil.

I would go further. Replace current system of putting skill gems in slots to putting something else like D2 charms or runes.
Then make a skill tree for gems where classes start at each end and unlock additional slots for active and support gems. How do they unlock? It could be levels, could be each x stat for appropriate color or somethin else This would separate skills from stupid current RNG while still keep equipment RNG similar |

" people are asking way too much for white 6S items, I always sell them for 12 or so jewelers and not ask a min of 1 exalted. I agree with OP fusings and jewelers shouldn't be that much RNG since they are hold your skills |

The randomness of socket numbers, colors, and links holds back potential builds.
The randomness of crafting in socket numbers, colors, and links holds back potential builds. This is the mechanic by which you set your character up to play. You are already making the decision of which skills to use and how to support them within the constraints of stats, passives, mana, weaponry, etc. Even the support skills themselves have drawbacks via greater mana cost, reduced area of effect, etc. There doesn't need to be any randomness injected into the system of designing your skill layout any more than there should be in planning your passives. The tools should be available to plan a build a character from level 1 through the level cap with no randomness injected into that system. |

" This will not work, you can buy a 6L (most probably of your desired item) for much lower than this ;) What items could you buy with 55 Exalts? Well... anything? placeholder for creative sig

" That's the point. You can eliminate bad luck, but it costs you vastly more fusings than you need for a 6L on average. Disregard witches, aquire currency.

" No, the point is that such a recipe will just be useless, because the market offers better alternatives. Hence, a better recipe, that will actually be used, is needed. placeholder for creative sig

" No, what IS needed is for people to understand the damn meaning of RNG, and take the consequances of their choices like adults, instead of whining that stuff is broken..when in the end, they're the ones who messed up in not assesing what their action would result in. IGN: Gahrlaag
