Performance and Stability
I've lost two leagues. I couldn't get my character above 85 due to constant never ending crashes. I crash left and right up and down plus sideways. I've learned the ends and out of crashes. I'm used to rebooting my entire system, if you fix all this, gasp, shudder, I might actually play!!!
What a novel concept! |

I'm not big on reading the forums or reddit, but reading this, it seems to me like the community is supremely pissed.
I do experience game issues here and there, but I understand that making a game is no easy task and I've always had faith that GGG, developers who love their game with a fierce passion, always listens and manages to fix problems sooner or later. So, GGG, I thank you guys for relentlessly trying your best and releasing original and interesting content frequently all while addressing core game problems. I'm pretty sure you'll find the solution to this new one as well. Good luck guys! |

Godmorning to you:
I think lag has always been a problem but this leauge is extremly bad. Yes minions builds has always had a negative effect on lag especially in group playing as many dont even whant them in a group. Even loading times has been vorse and letting vaal skelleton out is giving it totaly lag 1-2 sec and then cracy low fps. I think it was same with last leauge for me when al did get activated puff crazy lag and you die. yes i havent the newest pc but it many other games its works fine its just in poe i have this problem. Playing Hc its not a option for me since long time due to al this problem. I like verry much you have so good contact with us players and hoping you can fix this problem for good mayby having a other approach how you do thing in general have a nice weekend Bo |

Thanks for letting us know.
It's sad to read about all the problems, but I think it was the right decision to talk about them, even if some ppl are complaining here. You say Prison Cell, I hear 'Holiday'.

Well, thats the tradeoff - calculating as much as possible on server side reduced entry points for highly developed hacks and bots ( D2 anyone? ).
This of course will introduce a bottleneck, as the necessary computation power on their side scales with the user base, and ofc they can not dedicate "one cpu core for one use" ( while with "all computation on client side" you would nowadays obviously have multiple cores and even no added network latency ). Anyway, i can cope with the current state, i had no client crashes ( okay two, but while leveling ... ), and the slowing down fps in high blight maps ... ok, i can handle this, dropping Vaal Summon Skelletons and wait it out :P |

Thanks for the update, even if next league is "FlashBack league" it will be great and you could focus on improving this.
I don't care to play Flashback league/events/LEagueStone more often, i think a lot of people like them. Blight itself is not a disaster, its only performances issues that makes people mad. |

a more simplified damage /mitigation model for minions perhaps?
and, aren't there frameworks that make sure a single process can't consume the whole cpu for a longer time? are you really just forking new instances? offline Last edited by cronus#1461 on Sep 20, 2019, 4:12:44 AM

It's interesting.
I don't play minion build, nor shatter build. - Had "Present" crash maybe 10 times this league for 70 hours or so gameplay - never had sudden disconnect - had 5 crashes in a row on my re-leveling SRS Ashcaller+Pyre trapper, i swapped items so something of that combo probably crashed something. - I keep 60+ fps on 120fps cap, with gsync, i do not notice it almost at all - i never crashed in Blight map, but i always failed due to bugged mobs I find this league to be better from performance standpoint than Legion actually. But I tend to avoid builds that have inbuilt server problems when chaining explosion or hitting everything at once. I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

Again, with the waves thing, and since the two games are similar enough in theme anyway...:
This. Is a "Wave Stone" In the game that this comes from, you can spend resources to "enrage" it, thus increasing the pack size of that given wave. You can even "enrage" it multiple times to increase said pack size - and other things - further. You can also click on it if it hasn't reached the end to send it and other wave stones in front of it up to the end, calling the waves early. You can send up to five waves at a time with this method, or you can control click it to send all waves immediately with a very short delay between each stone. Hovering over the wave stone would show what's coming, their armor, and any extra modifiers or resistances. There are even smaller stones that give bonuses (such as a small amount of resources, or a single free tower or upgrade) and can be "Heated" in the same manner that you "Enrage" waves to increase their effects. This. Is the "Monster Counter" The smaller number indicates how many monsters are being held back, while the bigger number indicates how many monsters are actually on the field at a given time. Both of these gives the player enough information about a given encounter to effectively deal with the encounter. Blight would be much improved if both of these were implemented in the game in some capacity. ------------------------------ Also, maybe you should bring back Legacy for the next league, eh? A lot of people would appreciate it immensely. It would also be a lot easier since your developers would essentially be porting an old league up (if they didn't throw out the source and documented it properly) and would be free to fix up a lot of the accrued developmental debt these past couple of leagues. You wouldn't even have to stray too far from the three month model. ------------------------------ Edit: FIX THE DAMAGE THAT THE FLYING FIRE BLIGHT MOBS DEAL. Running blights with a fire gate active is currently not survivable even with maximum fire resistances due to the amount of projectiles that are created. I am continually amazed by the transparency and willingness to admit mistakes, and the fact that you provide thoughts and information on what is being done and where GGG is headed. Thanks for keeping us updated!
Also, it's important to remember that while it seems like many people (reddit) are angry, so many more are enjoying the league. A vocal minority can be disheartening sometimes. Last edited by chakra#1485 on Sep 20, 2019, 4:25:07 AM
