Ranged blight monsters are very dangerous
In general, ranged monsters are the only dangerous monsters in the game, but ranged blight monsters appear in massive numbers, tanking the framerate, while firing dozens of projectiles and having a truckload of HP. I think I've died every single time RNG gave me ranged monsters for a blight encounter, while the melee blight monsters are a cakewalk.

Yeah, I agree.
Just had my first and last death this league due to this. It's not fun having a league mechanic that randomly decided to kill you. Location: T14 Defiled Cathedral (ident. corrupted) 0 damage mods (closest this was defiled ground) Me: Minions (both mine and turrets) attacking Blight minions. Standing 1/4 of a screen away from any lane. 5.7k hp + 1.7k mana (Mind over matter). 10k armour + 15% physical damage reduction. 79% elemental resists. 75% chaos resist. Result: From 100% to 0% life (and mana) in under 0.3 seconds from some triple projectile bouncing looking attack (yellow-greenish color) that originated from off-screen. Maybe 5-10 hits (hard to tell, happened so fast). WTF? If you feel the need to just randomly kill players, why not just add a spinning casino wheel into the game that you have to roll before you log in? |

Agree. This seems to be a bug (or incomplete feature?) so I reported it here: (Ranged) Blight monsters attack foes which are not directly in their path. Whether bug or incomplete I can't find any mention of a decision to revert that behavior and the Blight page still says mobs shouldn't attack an enemy if the enemy is not directly in their path.
The ability to build and upgrade towers is a bit of a critical component of the tower defense genre. The blight page indicates that players should be able to step out-of-lane to manage towers without fear of being attacked. This bug prevents that. The (ranged) mobs also seem to bunch up and thus fire all their projectiles at once meaning players who are out-of-lane end up getting '1-shot' because they're hit from off-screen with several projectiles all at the same time. Honestly those range fire mobs are killing all the fun I have in blight. I've got 15k ES, tons of phys and ele reduction, IC and yet they manage to kill me in 0.3 sec off screen...

Agreed the ranged fire mobs are a problem. Can do entire an red map with damage mods without dying, can take on other blight encounters without dying, but when those mobs spawn I have to run away and abandon the encounter because death is imminent

Same here... Juggernaut, nebuloch, 9 endurance charges. 90% phys reduction, all elemental resists 80/81. In PoB damage taken modifier 0,12. 6k hp. Imagine... almost no damage taken at all anywhere. Taking Shaper slam like a gentle pat. Tanking 2 shaper orbs. And then there is blight in a tier 10 map..... all fine untill fireball throwing guys. 1 hit (!!!) takes me down to 3/4 hp. 4 hits and I am gone. So yea if i spot them spawning I run away like crazy.

Most of the time i just ignore the encounter if i see the a fire portal. The whole league is a huge middle finger to mellee.

" Ain't that the truth. Not very many people complaining though because 50% of the player base is playing OP necro minions which are STUPID levels of broken. I can AFK uber elder in SSF gear! It's stupid and sets an extremely bad presidence to create a league mechanic balanced around set-it-and-forget-it skills like totems, minions, and brands. Poor monster balance is fucked up. Why do some of these blight bosses have more effective HP than shaper? The damage requirements in the league are equally ridiculous to the defense requirements. " No Joke, I can easily clear corrupted red maps but have failed every blight map, even lvl 3 ones. because i simply can not cover 6 simultaneous bowling lanes of mobs coming to the pump in mass numbers with a melee focused toon. It forces you to sit at the pump and one red boss will never go down once he is that close to the pump and event ends. |
