Self cast ball lightning + GMP is a very popular choice currently among necros who prefer to manually apply EE and enfeeble (or w/e other curse they use). Storm brand is a solid option too and it would free up a gem slot (no need for a gmp support there) if that's of interest to you.

For melee the biggest contender is cyclone because of how easy it is to use and effective at both keeping you moving and applying the desired effects while doing it. You can get away with getting some source of flat lightning damage to attacks on your gear (the amount doesn't matter even a low roll on a ring would work fine) and use cyclone + fortify to do the job. Other links there are highly flexible and can be tailored to what you feel is best. Cyclone requires a proper melee weapon so wands are out of the question though. More weapon range is best for Cyclone so it works better with a 2h, usually a staff (Femur of the Saints for example).

I have a little question: Can I use Zahndethus' Cassock Sage's Robe with 6 slots without break the Elemental equilibrium? Because of the "1-40 lightning damage to attacks" of the robe.

Yes you can use those robes, cold and fire is what we don't want. Here is what we want to do. I will paste what Wrecker has in the build. Happy Gaming!



Elemental Equilibrium (EE) is a node on the passive tree. It gives enemies negative resists to elements you don't hit enemies with...if you've hit them with an element.
So if I hit an enemy with lightning, the enemy now has 25% extra lightning resistance and -50% to both fire and cold resists. If my spell or attack hits an enemy with lightning and fire, the enemy is only now susceptible to cold damage.

A big part of the Zombie damage in this build comes from our Hatred aura. It gives cold damage to the Zombies. Minion Instability's explosions are fire damage. So make sure that ANY item, jewel, or implicit mod from the ascendancies does not add cold or fire damage in any way.

A neat thing about EE is that it is only applied to enemies by us, not our minions. So, even though our minions are hitting the enemies over and over with cold or fire damage, they aren't giving the enemies extra resists of those elements.
The only problem is that's really hard to decide which of your builds should I roll first. :) I'm gonna start with this one I think. Keep up the good work. Subbed.

Ok this build has been awesome. Stress free and good clearing.
But I cannot seem to clear the blighted maps.
I have 11 zombies (all my gems are level 19 and enhance is level 2) I’m level 84 with all minion damage nodes picked up. My ascendancy and skill tree are as you recommended.
I can’t seem to get my ball of lightning to work, never see it do anything anyway.

So with the blighted maps there is just way too many monsters, so my question is how do I either get more zombies or get them to do way higher damage?
Note I also use the awesome skeleton bombs constantly to help clear! I love the build as it works for me and it’s just enjoyable and easy but I would love to know how to make it work for blighted maps. I am only at T5 maps haven’t seen it perform at higher tier maps so hopefully it works fine for that too!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

So I need to ask a dumb question and apologize in advance.

In the guide it shows to stop leveling certain gems at different levels (offering skill at 8). Now, with the global modifiers from the ascendency path giving +2 to all minion gems my offering skill is at 10. Is that where it should be or should I have stopped at 6 and got the +2?

Same here. Failed 2 blighted maps before I got the hang of it. Note: I am a new player and this is my first and only char ATM.

Followed this guide exactly (having a blast with it) as you did.

Here's my one change so that now I do not have blight map issues...

I removed the CWDT with ball lightning and threw in a greater multi projectile gem instead (and leaving it at lvl 1 like CWDT). This way, enfeeble is cursing the whole screen and activating EE on every mob.
Yea, it's an extra click but I got used to it.
Also, I build frost and fire towers...I'm assuming they do more damage like the zombies and skellies with the EE.

Then, be aggressive! I was letting the mobs come to me and was getting overwhelmed. Now I chase after whichever line is closest. Wipe it and move to the next closest.

I am clearing T8 maps with this build so far with only 3400 life (using unique wand with 30% reserved life) and I'm still pretty capable of not dying. Can't wait to see what I can do once I get some decent life and gear.

I have roughly 3.3k life I tried a level 8 shaped map and it wasn’t too bad but found I died more because of the lag with the skeletons blowing up and zombies etc etc

Haha I use to let them come to me too!! Sounds like we play very similar styles lol

But I do love the build and hopefully with your tips I’ll be able to clear the blighted maps. Also like the cold and for tower tip too, makes sense and hopefully helps too!

What gear are you looking for? Just curious what to look for and find.

Global modifiers are not considered in gem requirements. You still level them as it is said in the guide.
