As a summoner main, I'm not liking the focus on improving them for Blight League

I'm incredibly wary of this league. As much as I love the concept of a tower defense league, my biggest concern is them reworking the Necromancer tree. I'm a summoner main, so of course that's my concern.

I love summoners, because they're a "jack of all trades, master of none" build that can tackle just about all of the content in the game without trivializing the hell out of it like other builds. It helps that these builds are also outstandingly cheap to get off the ground, making it great for starters and players who have a difficult time making money. They've always been my "fallback" I can rely on if another build I make doesn't work out. The only time I've felt like they were bad was during Legion, because the minions can't tackle all of the mobs properly, one time out of all my time spent playing this game since Closed Beta.

The biggest thing I've worried about is the day they become a "Flavor of the Month" build. New items are introduced and become valuable, old things that are easier to get is balanced down to compensate, significant stat buffs, the works. Then, after three months of riding on the gravy train, it gets nerfed into the ground and possibly becomes worse than it was before the rework. I've dreaded this day, and now it's finally happening.

Summoners just needed small improvements. QoL, new mobs that make viable spectres, better minion AI, that sorta stuff. This is too much, and summoners are gonna pay for it once the league's over.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

I can see the "offering affect you" getting rekt.

It'd definitely feel bad if they icefrogged the necro ascendancy to OP levels just to have it butchered next patch. I think necro should be a consistent choice, not an overpowered one.

Even last titme it got nerfed it was just because of the nice defenses with the offering nodes for good block chance. It didn't really shine in other fields though.

Excited for changes but +10,000,000,000,000% to everything Pizzarugi said.

Pretty Please GGG Keep it in mind.

This is precisely one of the reasons I main summoners. They're not stupidly OP, not laughably non-viable for endgame, and have been this way for a very long time. There's no reason to rock the boat, as it were, when there's still other playstyles and ascendancies that are being neglected.

Well, they had to buff the hell out of the only archetype that has the luxury of clicking on random shit during combat, right? We can't have people trying to play melee during this league, it would never pan out.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

If you think that's bad, just wait and see what's going to happen to all of those melee builds that got improved in Legion, once Blight comes out. ;)

Of course, a carrot is never enough, there should be a stick present too, just in case someone was having second thoughts.

Ehh, I ain't too worried, even if we get nerfed after Blight, GGG would have to try really hard to put summoners in a worse spot.

I am hopeful, however, that it is an archetype buff/remake. Think previous Guardian change with the purity theme, or the Inquisitor light-themed half-physical half-converted spell thing. And not like the grand changes to spells in before, or melee in legion. So a few decent buffs, some new toys, nothing so major to make 70% of players play the same skill.
This is also going to be the only league where you can play a poison based build, just like how Legion will have been the only league where pure physical melee builds were a thing.
