Announcing Path of Exile: Blight
" Not a bad idea, a 3 month 'beta' league and then a 3 month polished league - i'd defo play another 3 month of legion which includes the incoming nerfs to cyclone and changes to the timeless so non-HH builds can enjoy it I do like tower defence games, but as most have mentioned it feels a little too much to control whilst trying to focus on killing - time will tell tho! Majority of people saying they will skip the league will no doubt try it first |

This game has just become way too overcomplicated and unfocused for me. Adding in endless skills, sub-games and item types every couple of months just puts me off getting back into it. KISS!

wow, it's the first time i'm not hype by a league :l
I will try it but i m afraid of a new bestiary league with bad/weird mechanics. It can be fun the first few days but is not it going to get boring very quickly ? | |
" Weeelll, there was PoE Battle Royale that one time... ^_^ |

First impression without playing is more like ... meh.
It looks like the blight is on every map? It feels like a time consuming mechanic on a map. Which binds you to a certain map area for a while. Poe already requires a lot of time, i wonder how much more time is required for a map. Waiting for waves, Building Tower ... could take a long time. Tower Defence games reward you with the feeling of being clever, upgrading your towers, getting stronger, placement ... i feel like poe is the wrong type of game to mix this in. We have to see how it works out on gameplay. Maybe it will be fun, maybe not. |
|
Skipping this one, very disappointing, tower defense mechanics in a game that's about clear speed is just a terrible idea imo.
|
|
This looks boring tbh... Tower defence games are only fun for like a couple of minutes. When it goes on for a long while and you have to repeat it over and over it just turns into a boring waiting game routine. I wanted to play this game because it reminds of diablo playstyle. Not wc3 TD.
But, i will still play and test it out, maybe i will be surprised. Last edited by auc_martin#0777 on Aug 21, 2019, 7:19:26 AM

Looks nice and I'm really happy the tower defence will slow down the gameplay for a bit. In Legion you are f***d if you don't play a meta super clearing speed with HH build and this is a way it maybe will work.
But I really hope it won't feel too clunky like synthesis. |

Echoing the concerns by many. Mechanics of the league look very fiddly especially with the tower type selection wheel.
The whole appeal of POE for me is increasing my characters power as I go along but here I'm going to be dependent on towers for the league mechanic which only seem to have slight upgrade paths? I enjoyed Legion a lot. Will give this a try but suspect within a week I'll be waiting for 3.9. The QOL changes look amazing. |

I for one am actually really excited to have a league that doesn't seem to require a Meta speed-clearing build to do well on for once. It's a welcome change of pace that should allow more niche builds to participate on a level playing field. IMO, a nice departure from brain dead league mechanics - Look forward to seeing how heavily weighted the strategy element of TD is going to be.
Like tower defense or not, I don't understand how so many players are bashing on it for being over complicated... That's what makes POE great! The massive skill tree, gem pool and and interesting uniques. If you want simple, you've got the wrong game. All that said, TD should be interesting to see how it plays out. Notable passive enchants is a great idea for opening up some more build diversity without being game breaking (TBD perhaps) and all of the QOL changes are very welcome. Love the direction GGG is taking here. Can't wait for Blight league to start :) |
