ridicolous changes without any sense. Melee was fine except for some clunky gameplay sometimes. now it's totally broken.

there wasn't a single melee gem apart from new tectonic slam that could possible compete DPS wise to casters. so no, i do agree that melee might be broken now. but we will see.
I'm surprised to find so much love for swords and axes in the new melee gems and not much love for other weapon types. It's particularly mystifying that "close combat support" and is only for swords and axes. What's the reasoning behind that? Likewise, you can "pulverize" with a claw or a dagger, but you can only "perforate" with axes and swords.

Beyond the balance implications, these are "huh, what?" moments about the names attached to the skills.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

Unless I'm missing something you'll still need frenzy charge generation outside of flicker strike itself, based on the probabilities involved for the flicker strike skill itself generating charges. That doesn't necessarily make it undoable, of course, but it does make the build more labor intensive to play.

Full disclosure: I'd like to make a SSF flicker strike assassin physical dagger build. But, I can't figure out how as an SSF player to reliably generate flicker charges without resorting to frenzy (the skill) and/or blood rage (which comes with downsides, including more button pushing micromanagement).

If you know something I don't about how to sustain frenzy charges for a SSF flicker striker then I'd be glad to hear it.

Any idea what the final stats of glacial hammer are? It looks like they're still playing with the values, as the patch notes were updated.

"
- Now has 155% damage effectiveness at gem level 1 (from 140%), up to 200% effectiveness at gem level 20 (from 182%).
- Now gets +2 to melee range at gem level 1 (from 0), up to +4 at gem level 20 (from 2).
- Updated: Every third successive strike now freezes enemies as if it were dealing 200% more damage at gem level 1, up to 390% at gem level 20. (previously stated it was 500% at all levels)

The gem shown is still at 182% damage effectiveness. They fixed the 500% freeze effect though.

Edit: Vaal Glacial hammer still lists 500% in the patch notes.

Wait... Sunder now as 25% less attack speed instead of the old 15% ?
Even slower? Then Multistrike that got even slower? Or am I missing something?

Can't go fast if they slow you down, having slower attack speed and mor emob HP are 2 things they did in order to slow down the game pace, though I have no clue why this has to be a thing for melee.

Ice Crash now has 70% base attack speed and it was slow as heck before, soon enough we'll be perma freezing ourselves when we use it.
