You can take few extra nodes for about +70 all res near classic RF build tree, extra +100 fire from Chieftain and some +40 from Purity. So, you basically need only +270 cold and lightning resistance from gear, down to about +200 depending on passive tree investments and +0 fire resistance since you get it free and it is not halved like other two. That's 5-6 good rolled double resistance rare items. A little bit expensive with nice life rolls, but reasonable for such huge reduction.
edit: Thinking about it, not "reasonable", it is pretty OP node in fact, especially against Elder and other heavy cold-lightning damage fights.

I don't think people grasp how powerfull this is especially in a combination with Cheiftain and his Endu charge generation with an Immortal call on top now reducing elemental damage as well. Not to mention the stupid amount of life regan you can get. It will literally make tank builds viable.

It been a while I haven't play but as other said I think it will be fairly easy to get a few extra elemental resit node and a bit more heavy resit investment to fill the hole.
But also is it possible that the Kitava curse is also affected by the minus resist ? 50% less of -60% meaning you save 60% resit in all resist.
Meaning you would need
-240 Fire resit
-210 Cold resit
-210 Lighting resit
