The long answer is:

Ideal case would be 90% fire res, 75% cold and 75% lightning.

If you've already reached that point, you have insane fire mitigation, at (0.25-0.10)/0.25 = 60% less fire damage taken than a default high level character, or 1/0.4 = 2.5 = 150% more EHP than one (can take twice and half again as much points of pre-mitigation damage than someone with 75%).

The ability to apply this to Cold and Fire at 50% would be:

((0.25) - (0.5 * 0.25 + 0.5 * 0.10 ))/0.25 = 30% less cold/lightning damage taken, or 1/0.7 = 1.428 = 42.8% more EHP against Cold and Lightning damage.

That's quite strong, although not as insane as I was hoping, for the ideal scenario.

Although, naturally, if you can get more cold and lightning taken as fire (up to 100% of both), you can start to creep your way towards insane 150% more EHP against all elements. That would be quite insane indeed.

Hmmm so you increase the max res for fire and reduce fire damage taken elsewhere, then it's good. But how :-?

Start with an RF build. They already have a ton of max fire res.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
This is pretty solid for cheiftain
Come on, give us some bigger spoilers, the hype is real!

nice math.
But you need at least 150% cold and lighting resistance to get actual 75%. It take very heavy investments to resistances.
Any res over max for ice and lightning will now benefit the character, instead of just sitting there as over max res doing absolutely nothing. Also a great way of ensuring you're always taking fire damage. A great node for chieftain.

Neat.

Wonder if double keystone is a thing. Mhhhh...
that looks like some interesting tree changes
