Developer Q&A - Part I

Do the GGG developers actually play their own game ? That would have been an interesting question.

If we consider the obvious flaws in a lot of league mechanics I'd say they don't.

Not only do the devs play the game, they are experts with 1000 hours played

I'm not sure what to say really. Thanks, I suppose?

At least I know that no major concerns are going to be addressed and for me that's enough to stop playing.

I'll be probably keeping eye on streams to have quick check on state of events - many good memories left in game and hope dies last as they say.

But paying customer I'm no longer.

Remember that time when you made a league consisting of 13 treasure boxes and a fat man who mostly tried to scam you?

I do, cause it was the best league ever <3.

While we do appreciate the hard work and complexity of these past leagues, sometimes less really is more.
Without trade (for maps at least), i will not give any more money to PoE. :D I hope another ARPG appears soon and shake PoE, because since they are leading the market with their annoying trade system, they will not change it.
Yeah making alts is in a decent spot. But then there's mechanics where it's actively a huge detriment. E.g. Atlas dailies, Elder influence, sextants, Pantheon. The Atlas in general is extremely annoying to maintain with characters of differing strength and level.
Character archive: view-thread/963707
HC: 96 RIP
SC: 95 97 96 100 95 96 97 98 95 97
P2: TBD
3.26: TBD
Disappointed on the trade stance, but I will thank GGG for being honest. So I will be honest right back. The wallet is officially closed until the trading system is given some love, any love.

I want to play path of exile, not path of HO spamming trying to get the map/item/fragment/currency I need to do X thing.

I know you said you don't want to simplify crafting too much, but is there a chance you could instead implement some kind of crafting training center? Simply a place where you could pull an item in and have no currency consequences so you can get a feel for how it all works without having to worry about screwing up an item or blowing all of your currency to try it out. You wouldn't get to keep the item, obviously, but it would be a great training tool.

This feels like it would be the best way to not have to really change anything with how crafting currently works, allow it to be as complex as it currently is, but let people get a consequence free handle on how it works. That feels like the only fair way for everyone to at least get a chance to understand the system. No better way than trial and error! Even watching crafting videos doesn't quite give you a good enough feel to risk your own items and currency on.

It has been 18 months since you posted the Trade Manifesto. Do you still stand by it?

This question prompted a long discussion. Many hours of senior developers talking about trade. Our conclusion was: Yes, we do stand by everything we wrote in the manifesto. We are not adding a Trade Market to the PC version of Path of Exile.

My response to this along with the bullshit about clear speed, not making crafting more accessible (or at least reduce the spread between shitty and god-tier)and the obvious focus on catering to the whales ("more engaged" LOL) is this:

I already had severe issues with your business model and utter neglect of adding any customization or cosmetics to the actual game but I managed to get over that stuff because I saw potential in this game. I had hope that positive change was possible. Now, I don't. I really love the mechanics and complexity of your game but I simply don't have the time to maximize the experience. I get enough frustration and stress from work. I don't need even more from what is supposed to be fun.
There are two types of POE players:
1) Those who want to walk uphill both ways barefoot on broken glass wearing a blindfold
2) F*cking noobs

I identify as transnational Chinese. May I have access to their QOL features, please?
