Banned for using Trade-Macro
A friend of mine was banned for no practical reason what so-ever, he was logged off and wasn't doing anything, the next day he opened his account to see a notice of him getting banned, the support team was and is still blaming my friend for using a third-party application, i guess i shouldn't assume a support system to be listening to their players' opinion in the first place, 1450+ hours spent on game and he gets banned without a warning without anything to show how he was violating the 'T&C' all the stuff we paid for, all the work he was doing since we started playing this game is gone without a slight discussion, I would like to ask the support team to clarify "IS trade-macro allowed? and if no why are most players using it without getting banned?" the main idea of this issue irritates me so much, the main idea of this game was to bring friends together, and now he's not going online at all waiting for something to happen.

Not going to comment on your friend's situation.
Here is a thread explaining Macro usage and permissions: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2077975 In any case, the takeaway is that GGG usually allow macro that "only result in a single server-side action". It is always always best to confirm directly with them whether a macro you plan to use is allowed. Just send them a mail at support@grindinggear.com. Even if you find a macro posted online or here in this very forum, there is still a risk.
Seeing people getting banned for using trade macro brings me joy ^^

I just recently installed a trade macro and am now getting very nervous about a ban - what should I do? Contact GGG to see whether it violates their ToS?
I have to say in the stories I've read about this stuff they don't seem to be very helpful or forthcoming regarding account bans, nor do they seem willing to work with paying customers to come to an agreement that un-bans an account. I'm a little paranoid that I'll receive a notice that I was permanently banned out of nowhere, which is not a good way for a player/customer to feel (especially in a very grindy game like this one). We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

People who use trade macros to send whispers to multiple sellers at once - oh yes, absolutely ban those bastards! They are intentionally wasting everybody's time to save theirs.
a) You get a whisper for some item, you stop what you are doing and invite the guy, and he immediately leaves the group. Not a lot you can do, just add that bastard to ignore. But the ignore list is limited, can't ignore them all. b) You have multiple of the same item for sale, and you get multiple whispers from the same person at the exact same moment. THIS is your chance to get that fucker banned! It's a direct violation of the ToS. Copy/paste these whispers from your client log and send it to GGG support. Oh, yes. Why making player-friendly trade system if you can simply ban people? :D
I agree that PoE is totally their game, and they have rights to write ToS they want and then ban those who violate it. But emagine: you making a burger. Bread, some turkey, a piece of cheese... and a big piece of shit in it. And then, when people try to remove shit, you are taking burger from them, because they violate ToS. Could be funny if not been so sad. To argue with a fool means to sink to his level. Last edited by NiobMordodrukow on Apr 14, 2019, 1:49:02 PM

" The trade system is player friendly, i've had no problem using it buying or selling. The problem is that players are not player friendly so when it comes to trade or basic conversation they manage to fuck it up. As for the banning, a trade macro would no result in a ban provided it isn't automated/timed...even then if you managed to get banned it would result in them asking you to email them to "discuss" the problem...and have you agree not to do it again. If they are upholding the ban (which it seems they are) and all you have is 3rd party program use, then i would say bots or other hacks...which is a perma ban. Ancestral Bond. Just came here to watch people admit they use macros and then ask if they should be expecting a ban...LOL
Some of you aren't very fuckin bright.
" If you want peace of mind, yes. It's up to you. Because it depends on what the macro actually does, similar trade macros can be viewed differently by GGG. So while one is acceptable, another may not. Only GGG can say for certain what is what. Simple one-press-one-server-action non-timed non-cyclical ones are usually tolerated. Sometimes banned people were later proved to be innocent and have had their account unfrozen. Still, they are very very harsh on anyone using illegal macros (and "didn't know" isn't an excuse).
