PlayStation 4 Release Date: March 26th

YEAH xD
I just rewatched the trailer and noticed a peculiar little detail:

Spoiler

Does anyone know what those wierd grey sockets are? I've not seen anything like those in the PC version at all.

Additionally I've seen posts by XBox players which say their version does not feature weapon switching (I can't confirm how true that is), yet this footage of the PS4 version shows weapon-switching does seem to be included on PS4.

Looking forward to play this, i loved Diablo II, 3 and Torchlight, this will be a nice addition since D3 is getting a bit stale now.

Perhaps they are Abyssal sockets - the items sort of look like Abyss stuff.

Weapon switching works on Xbox but was added post release.

I just did a quick Google search on Abyssal sockets, and it brought up a lot of images of that exact type of socket, so you're right. I've never seen that type before, and it's strange that they were shown in the trailer like that.

Glad to hear weapon switching is now a thing. I've gotten used to having it on PC, and was a bit disappointed when I started to hear people mention it was not available on console. Being able to flip between 1H and 2H setups easily is too good of a feature to not have, especially since you can use the alt set to level-up gems.

Tbh, linking the mtx from pc is probably just not an option from sony. I mean the only money sony can make is if you buy mtx in their store. If you could just buy stuff directly, why would they launch poe on their platform?

So this is most likely against the contract ggg will have with sony.

Crossplay can be cool, like for example Final Fantasy 14, works fine, you can play PS4 and PC on the same servers and you dont even need PS plus, as FF is subscription based and I guess sony gets revenue from the subscription fee. Also the game is not on XBox.

Need some corrections.

Sony is getting what game companies sell. Sony is not selling anything about specific games. So, companies are selling them, not Sony. Sony only get some cut and maintaining store (kinda like Steam). In other hand, companies are launching games on PS platform (coding, visuality etc etc), again not Sony.

GGG can merge MTX. However, will be really painful to make a merge system. In short $/hour will not worth it. Its not need a crossplatform something. It can be done by database side without affecting PS system etc etc.

You're totally incorrect here.

Sony own the PS4, they own the Playstation Store and the Playstation Network. In order for a company like GGG to release a game on their console, the company has to agree to a long list of rules, terms and conditions set-out by Sony. Sony reserve the right to restrict or remove access to their console, store and network if companies do not follow the rules, terms and conditions.

Certification is part of this. If Sony are not satisfied that your game contains no major problems that could undermine the safety or security of the console, store or network, or your game would break other rules of the service, then Sony will refuse to make your game available to it's players.

Once a game is on the store it must follow the rules, terms and conditions at all times. Patches and content updates all need to be verified by Sony (which is why updates lag behind on console). Any MTX or DLC must be sold through the Playstation Store, where it can be properly monitored, recorded and tracked by Sony. Companies are not allowed to circumvent the Store using any method.

Sony may allow MTX to be merged from other-system accounts, and they may allow cross-play with other systems, but these must be negotiated before they can be implemented. Even then, Sony have a track record of saying no in 99% of cases where these things are asked for.

So besides asking Sony and likely getting a "no", it's not a thing GGG can do anything about.

Thank you for confirming what I said.. And I'm not sure if you read right what I wrote.. You just confirmed what I said..

I think you're the one who read my post correctly. You specifically said, and I quote:

What I said in my previous reply amounted to one thing: Sony have *rules* that developers must follow, and if those *rules* are broken or not followed then those developers will either be refused a license to publish on their platforms, or they will get their license revoked.

What I'm saying is, if GGG decided to flag PS4 players' accounts as owning MTX, without that MTX being purchased through the Playstation Store, and Sony found out, then GGG would either be fined a huge sum of money as a penalty or their game would be removed from the Playstation Store.

To which you could argue "yes, but they could ask Sony, and Sony have said yes in the past". That is an arrangement that Sony have allowed for a select few games over the years. However the developers must actively demonstrate that the arrangement is in Sony's best interest. If Sony can not clearly benefit from such an arrangement, they will say no.

There's *no* benefit in Sony allowing the transfer of MTX for PoE, because the game doesn't bring-in *any* other income, and isn't even an incentive for players to subscribe to PS Plus (because PS Plus is not required).

Remember: Sony make NO money on Path of Exile BESIDES from MTX. They're not going to reduce their only takings from the game unless it would reliably turn into a profit down the line.

Xbox has a Trade Board which handles almost all items. You need a premium stash tab to sell items, but nothing extra to buy items.

A seller places an item in a premium stash tab that has been set to "public" and the item now appears on the TB. The hopeful seller can specify a price, or not.

A hopeful buyer can search the Trade Board. They can select item type (amulets) and then sub-type (Coral Amulets). All the Coral Amulets for sale on the entire platform will be brought up in a series of search pages. The buyer must sort through them - there is a high light feature that allows the buyer to high light items based on a text match (so you can search for "Maximum Life" but not "'Maximum Life greater than 80"). Unfortunately, the last patch has temporary disabled the high light system.

The hopeful buyer can make an offer on an item (with or without a message) by placing their offered currency in an offer (yes, your currency is tied up). An in-game announcement is sent to the seller. The owner of the item may accept or reject (with or without a message) or let it sit. The owner has no obligation to accept any offers, even if offered what they asked or 10X what they asked. (You can imagine the potential for frayed nerves.) The buyer gets a coloured in-game announcement if the seller accepts (green) or rejects (red).

Trading is intentionally clunky - pretty much the story. And the anonymous nature of the system allows players to be jerks with no fear of repercussions.

The Xbox market is still very "thin" and prices tend to be materially higher than PC market prices.
