[3.5] Occultist Vortex/Cold Snap ES/CI - Deathless and Safe Uber Elder and T16's
What are you guys doing for the nodes just south of coldhearted calculation? The 3.5 tree in the OP is different than 3.6 live.

Hey sherubim, I started playing this build towards the end of last league and all this league, but you seem to have superior knowledge of the build itself. I also have seen some people who swear not to take ee etc. Can you take a look at my profile with my tree/gear and maybe throw me some advice on what I can improve or maybe change? Appreciate it.

" Hi, 1. Your EE cant work, cause you have put Frost Bomb as first gem into your weapon. The spells will trigger from first to last, so you kill your damage. An optimal setup is storm brand - frost bomb - orb of storms. EE itself is mainly used for boss kills as all small stuff dies instantly anyways we need a dps push for boss kills, which EE provides (around +50% more dps) 2. Upgrade your weaopn (i still tend towards wands as they are better to get for cheap). At least have +% cold damage over time 3. Remove soul thief, as we play dot only the initial hit will leech ES, just not worth it, path to Entropy instead 4. You took some more ES nodes at Foresight + you pathed there from 2 different directions. I recommend taking away some of those points (1 int node + 3 ES nodes) and path to Holy dominion. All the rest is personal preference + what I already said in the forum. Get that might of the meek and remove the bigger nodes in radius. Hope that helps |

A quick guide to EE (and what it does in this build):
EE will give a 25% increased res to the elemental damage type you last dealt, while providing a -50% lowered res on the other elemental resistances. So what we want is -50% cold res ofc. How do we get that? We proc skills in our weapon (from first (top, left) to last (bottom right), putting them on a 4 sec cooldown. So we chose to take skills that continously deal (in this case) lightning damage to have the EE effect (storm brand and orb of storms). The frost bomb effect is just a millisec. So there are 2 things you have to do 100% or it wont work: 1. get the skills in the right order 2. NEVER EVER have flat cold damage on ANY of your items, icluding gems (it will let you deal near to 0 damage with EE) Hope that helps |

" Well, i was using this one Killed uber elder with it, but its time to progress. Yday I bought scepter with some useless suffixes and without Cold damage multiplier. Then I beastcraft it and got this Any ideas what to do with it next? I am thinking to catch 2x unveil on it from syndicate. |

" Well, I dont see much profit to have it, it takes one mod on the weapon. I just press Vortex + Frost Bomb + Storm Band as part of my usual rotation. I think you can also bind it to 1 button with AHK if you feel that pressing 3 buttons is too hard :) |

" You can Multimod + Prefix can't be changed + craft any cheap prefix (to keep it rare) + scour to isolate your T1 cold dot (then you replace the cheap prefix by multimod again). That's 4ex just to isolate but guaranteed. Or you gamble an annul. Alts are still cheap in league at the moment, you should probably annul. I need to fix the gems order... " Basically you're right, but see what we have here as a build. Its the - as i call it - we-run-around-like-a-chicken build, so everything that gives us QoL is good. With the trigger mod you have all the spells right there where you need them. While mapping button rotations just suck as they slow me down, on bosses what makes this build special is, you can totally focus on mechanics and dodge.
