  • Improved Betrayal encounters by reducing damage dealt by most Syndicate members, improving skill signalling, reducing Syndicate member damage bonuses from some items, reducing skill off-screening, cleaning up residual objects to reduce clutter and reducing additional monster spawns in Fortification encounters.

I'm saddened to see nerfs being deployed across the board - with the possible exception of off-screening, which feels cheap and is one reason I'd never play Betrayal on Hardcore.

If the VFX associated with Syndicate members wasn't so gratuitously overdone, reducing their damage wouldn't be necessary - and honestly feels like a cop-out. I don't want to not die - I just want to understand why I died. At any time there's more than one of those tornadoes on the screen at once it's effectively impossible to see anything, regardless of what enemies are doing at the time. Abruptly dying in those circumstances is frustrating - but lowering their damage misses the point completely. Please ask the art team to tone down the VFX. It's not the first time they've heavily reduced my enjoyment of a challenge league.

As I posted in feedback, fortification encounters were way out of proportion challenge-wise. They were also inconsistent: sometimes I could bulldoze a yellow map fort, sometimes a white map fort would eat me for breakfast. Sometimes it came down to nothing more than placement of the fort. Ignoring the overall difficulty spike that is Betrayal, that's just silly.

For me, it was less than it was too hard, just too hard to gauge whether or not I'd walk away unscathed or get wiped very, very quickly.

I suspect that this will be a fairly moderate toning-down, but even a noticeable one would still keep Betrayal difficulty higher than core. The gap is massive, especially in end-game.

Honestly, for me, the problem isn't the Syndicate members--it's the trash mobs, specifically the rares. Something a lot of people don't realize in this clearspeed era is that trash mobs, especially rares, do a TON of damage, but we're used to them not being a threat because most of the time they die instantly. But when they get some tankiness--Temple monsters like the enhanced Vaal that can charge for 4k, or the Temple wraiths (I was oneshot by a rare one once), Abyss rares, Delve rares, the Esh rares in breaches (ones with Soul Eater are insane), and now Syndicate rares, which are most prevalent in forts--it's very noticable. The occasional 3-4k hit from a Syndicate member isn't that big of a deal, really.
Was really hoping for bestiary orbs... everything else seems okay though. also sad that the free red maps are gone but its probably fair lol
What about optimalization? Can run BF 1 on high without any lag and poe is lagging when im fighting with syndicate mobs. :(

And im not the only one..

Best patch note.
Really nice and listening to the player base as always. Love GGG
Shame there is no fixes for, "your authentication for instance transfer was invalid" or "an unexpected disconntion has occured". Maybe move some off the 1000 man MTX team and help the parttime bug fix guy out a little.
