I'm saddened to see nerfs being deployed across the board - with the possible exception of off-screening, which feels cheap and is one reason I'd never play Betrayal on Hardcore.

If the VFX associated with Syndicate members wasn't so gratuitously overdone, reducing their damage wouldn't be necessary - and honestly feels like a cop-out. I don't want to not die - I just want to understand why I died. At any time there's more than one of those tornadoes on the screen at once it's effectively impossible to see anything, regardless of what enemies are doing at the time. Abruptly dying in those circumstances is frustrating - but lowering their damage misses the point completely. Please ask the art team to tone down the VFX. It's not the first time they've heavily reduced my enjoyment of a challenge league.

Very nice summary of my own thoughts so borrowing them to repost

"""improved"""

Reddit yet again succeeds in whinging so hard that the game gets easier and shitter.

Remember when this game was hard? I do.

If you think the game is too easy, try some harder builds that aren't meta maybe. As for this change; syndicate members off screen oneshotting you at 5-6k hp with defenses up from semi visible or invisible source of damage has nothing to do with hard. It's just random and has nothing to do with skill since you can't respond to it (it being a oneshot).

That being said; good changes, but i feel like these needed to be already in place before release, not 1.5 weeks after. Ty for fixing, but maybe test new league content first before releasing it. Hope my game doesnt crash every time now when i encounter a fortification and a 100 different mobs and damage sources spawn all around and beneath me. You changed strongbox spawn mechanic as well to prevent this same issue (lag) but now you reintroduced the issue with even flashier mechanics on top. To summarize this: i have a shitty pc and can play most on this games content, but if you introduce heavier stuff each expansion i can't keep on playing.

For the casual poe player I am, it was fun seeing pro streamers die several times on hardcore during syndicate encounters. RIP my entertainment.
But nerf was needed.

I'm sure it will still happen. If streamers were getting one-shot with 6.5k hp then one-shots will still happen unless GGG went ahead and halved some syndicate skills damage. I doubt that's the case. I'm guessing it's like a 20% damage reduction so 5k hp toons will still get one-shot.

If you're playing some funky build with lots of uniques (which is why I play POE) then you'll most likely be at 5k hp or below.

finally, i love running low lvl maps with 5 sextant using elder zana mod
I would like to thank all the reddit whiners that got the syndicate nerfed.

Now they will just be more trivial content to barely pay attention to.

Awesome good job reddit.

I think that GGG should distinguish between SSF leagues to normal ones and changes like reducing the damage of syndicate members should occur mostly or only for SSF, since normal leagues members can trade and have better equipment to deal with it.

In general I would make many changes like that between SSF to normal.
Ah, finally increased sulphide capacity...

Please, we need some good news on the Sindicate Members stacking problem.
Ended up 3 deep in a Zanaception T14 was not disappointed this patch note saddened me a bit.
These changes show that GGG is really listening to their community. Kudos for that, as a developer myself I know how difficult it is to get things right the first time, but these fixes really show they care enormously about their players.
