Tbh just because it's finally starting to get the attention it deserves doesn't mean people haven't been against it for a long time. A lot of the industry does has worse practices, and some have better practices - the 'others are even worse' defense is not a strong stance when there can be improvements. And personally I expect more from GGG than any other gaming company, which is why I used to throw money at them every league I play.
Haven't spent a penny in a while till I understand their current direction and I'm surprised there hasn't been any kind of official announcement on changes to monetisation or reasons for keeping the status quo (and I'm not just talking loot boxes..).
We don't need mindless shouting or name calling (from either side), we only need an honest conversation or explanation so everyone can continue to make their own adult choices...
I calls it like I sees it, also there is only shouting from your side, but I doubt you have the self reflection necessary to process that.
Also props on putting together a vaguely intellectual sounding post with random cookie cutter statements about the monetization issues currently in the spotlight. Minus points for pretending I say things you can tack your hamfisted attempt at 'lets all be adults' nonsense.

You know nothing about me, son. I've been involved in gaming since Pong and the Color Computer 2. People older (and more intelligent) than the lint in my pockets recognized how much these boxes sucked immediately and have been voicing our opinions against them since day 1. The fleecing of the gamer didn't start with gambling boxes but they are the straw that may have broken the camel's back. The climate is shifting against anti-consumerism in the gaming industry and the industry needs to adjust to it or face chapter 7.
These companies know exactly what they are doing when they manipulate people with this form of gambling. Lotteries, sweepstakes and casinos have been doing it forever. What they fail to see is the fact that the massive success of these gambling boxes prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that more people are far more likely to make purchases if the pricing is reasonable.
These things sell to certain people in huge quantities (those are the problem gamblers the crates prey upon) but they also sell ridiculous numbers of them to people who are OK with spending $3 a couple of times on the chance to get something rather than $32 on one thing. They prove that they make more money from large volumes of sales of lower priced "goods" than they make from whales willing to spend $250 for one set of cosmetic armor.
That doesn't mean people will line up to buy a hat for $10 but I would bet that a full set of well designed armor would sell like mad at that price. It would be interesting to see them offer a set that had mass appeal (not some shitty clown suit only attractive to a niche) at that price point as a test.
Once gambling boxes are banned, I'm hopeful that companies like TencentGGG make that connection and overhaul their shop with that fact in mind.
You are right, until you posted this textwall you were just a regular internet shouty man and that's all I knew about you. However, now I know that you are an opinionated manchild that is easily triggered.
You are also right that people FAR more intelligent than you are solving this issue currently because the people that must make all the money in the world overreached their grasp. However, you and a throng of likeminded simpletons are here on the forums shouting from the rooftops the same tired shit about the issue that can be found after 10 minutes of googling it. You are neither intelligent enough nor actually invested in discussing the issues with this specific monetization system for this specific game to actually add anything worth discussing. So keep pissing in the wind while more apt folk solve the issue you latched onto.
Wow, someone is triggered. No question about it.
I agree that calm rational "adult" discourse is the better way to go, and also that this forum is not the best place to find that.
On topic: Loot boxes are demonstrably best at exploiting gambling addictions among people playing so-called F2P games. You're cool with that? Fine. Say so. You're not necessarily wrong; this is a matter of opinion, after all.
But recognize that some people are decidedly not cool with that.
Gambling is incentivised by allowing people to get items by gambling only. (1 month or 3months until only after that much time everyone can get by non-gambling mechanics)
I swear if they make some maven "Simon says" insta-death minigame, sirus, exarch ball minigame then i wont play poe2.
New player love everything about the game but 1 thing. the cosmetics just cost a bit too much. I dont hate lootboxs but these lootboxs cost more than any other games, i mean even the most expensive standard is 2.50, and poe is going 3$ aditionaly typicaly when you buy a bundle of loot box's you get a bonus box to incentivise bigger purchases. but poe does a bundle that doesnt making it only exist to be easier than buy 1 after another.
this being said my friends who also started playing and my wife all agree, every single one of them would dump money into the game if everything wasnt so pricey for what it is (not talking about the boxs wich are the most reasonably priced item lol) but instead literaly only ive bought anything 1 guild tab for us to use and 2 previous season lootboxs
Is there a way to turn off or lock the purchases of loot boxes and advertising of them, my dad has a gambling addition and for the last six years has found solace in games like yours. He has lost many games to loot box gambling and I hate for this one to be another one he has to aviod given all the time he has invested in it. I understand that any item can be purchased with out the Mystery box, that not the problem. the problem is the rush of buying it and opening them, very similar to slot machines and the rush that goes with it. Please help.

The only solution will be when governments push and hurry the ef up and ban lootboxes and sanction or fine companies implementing them everywhere on the world.
Just report every game where you feel where LootBoxes are implemented to cash in on addicts and pull people into gambling to your local government.
Since Belgiun has already sanctioned them illegal and currently in legal battle with EA, i guess it is only a matter of time to progress maybe after 2020 we will be rid of these boxes. It is so hard keeping away my sister's son form gambling shit on Fortnite... "heeey they gave me free credits but it is not enough...can we?..." I only allow him to buy stuff where it is not implemented with gambling, and teach my sister to act the same.
Some respectable decisions here:

I concur that someone in that exchange was triggered.
That word you keep using, I don't think it means what you think it means...
Also keep waxing each other off, you are only proving my point.

A simple breakdown of my stance on this topic:
- Things I am NOT cool with:
* Lootboxes
* Undisclosed drop rates for lootboxes
* Exclusive items one can only acquire through gambling
* Idiots who jump on the bandwagon to hate the thing 'that's in'
- Things I am COOL with:
* Disclosed drop rates
* Moving items from loot boxes into a cash shop where they can be acquired without RNG after a short period of time
* Taking a moment to think why the monetization model you are discussing is different and not taking the easy way of copy pasting shit from your favorite echo chamber
