Skill Rework - Arctic Breath

@kreca73 Go for Trickster and stack dots. Even worked in Delve with Cold Snap and Fire Trap. Now that you can focus on cold damage i am hyped.

Support gem just to make one skill work? (One. Cold snap and vortex are garbage even after rework. Noone uses these). What happened to skill design? This rework is DoA.

It lacks any feedback/impacr. The sound is terrible. That chilled ground look like dirty white rags and nothing gives any indication that it deals damage.

The damage scaling is a long list of donts and will nots. It is not intuitive what is going on.

Rework quality 2/10

All this skill needed was the flying part and damage tweak. Maybe thw cold dot (but why that dot is MOVING??)

Alas. Does it convert from phys? No. Garbage. Incompatible with statsticks and conversion == garbo

Btw occultist and cold dot? Lol..

1. Support gem that works with any cold-based spell, with additional damage for DoT cold spells.
2. You know nothing about vortex/coldsnap after rework, and obviously you have zero idea about what people plays or not.
3. They didn't reveal the gem itself, neither the support gme or the numeric effects of passive nodes and Occultist ascendancies, so you know nothing about its damage scaling. You're just throwing shit without looking where at.
4. If they add something that makes it a little different from other skills, like moving, it's bad to u? If it's just like any other skill, it will be bad, too. Just empty complaints.
5. This game has lived and succeeded for years without stat sticks (and would actually live longer if they were never implemented). If you can't succeed with a build that doesn't abuse stat sticks and damage conversion, is not the skill what sucks, you know.

Post quality: 0/10. You better go spread your hate to a mobile game, dude. Neither GGG nor the community need brainless feedback.

- they are using this 'rework' feature to ditch the old skills and reintroduce new ones. on one hand they remove the old skills without removing them, and on the other they add new shit!!!; dudes are nonethewiser.
- imo, adding similar-to-ignite-mechanics to cold, is a fail attempt to bring it on par with fire as %playability. dudes prefer fire, people will always prefer fire over cold even when fire sucks because IT'S FIREEEEE!.
in this case, you'll have cold to fire double scaling igniting and cold DoTing for clear/defense; as such, this looks like an elementalist skill mostly/only. you could pathfind it, scion it or shadow it as much as you want, you'll never beat the elementalist.

tldr, people will play it as converted to fire + chill(the defense fire always desired) because ... IT"S FIREEEEE! :)

Another failed assumption to know what people plays or prefer xD A lot of people prefers cold over fire, just for the same reason you say: because it's fire AKA the most overused thing in all history of fantasy.

That being said, burning/ignite damage is ailment and cold dot isn't, so no double-scaling. Focusing one or the other will be far more efficient than your idea. The only assumption where it works is with 100% damage conversion, and it won't be because "it's fireeee!". It will be because with 100% conversion this skill can proc its own EE.
Feel free to ckeck some skill suggestions:

All you had to do was get the projectile off the ground and raise the damage to match fireball.

I have always felt like arctic breath is supposed to be the cold version of fireball, but it had lower damage for no good reason and traveling on the ground forced it to explode on any random pebble.

I think this "buff" may actually be a bit of a "nerf" because currently you can still shotgun mobs with arctic breath, the same as fireball, if you can use the terrain or other mobs to explode multiple projectiles in a small area.

Pleas tell me if it will be possible for multiple projectiles to hit the same target if the player is able to use the terrain or other mobs to explode them in a tight area? If the answer is "No" then this is a nerf.

Also the Occultist additions sound nice but all of this Ailment/non-ailment damage over time specific buffing is really a headache. To make players want to use a DoT, it either needs to be a strong DoT (righteous fire) or stackable to equate to a strong dot (poison). The game isn't conducive to using mediocre damage hits and non-stackable mediocre damage dots to kill packs or bosses.. Most of these dots are too weak to even be considered significant next to the fact that we can cast a damage hit spell 4x or more per second..
Isn't the passive tree getting overly complex with specific "Cold DoT" and "Chaos DoT" nodes?
Uhm, okay, whaaaat?

So, the old 'damage over time' nodes are... not going to work with this, will work with this plus the new cold dot nodes/mods?

How will skill effect duration work with this (probably not well, if there can be a max of 10 areas allowed at a time).
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
OK, this Artic Breath looks interesting. I hope it feels good to play.
There has to be a low point where some people stop complaining because it's just not worth it, and I have yet to see it. - Squeakypaw, 2013

We're also giving Chaos Damage over Time the same treatment, adding non-ailment Chaos Damage over Time Multiplier to items, passives and the Occultist.

So Decay will actually be something worth taking now? Huh~

Lets hope this will be the last time cold/chaos damage over time needs to be changed, in order to stay relevant end-game.
hell ye brother
oooooooooooooooooooooooo
