Skill Rework - Arctic Breath
Really nice visual effect on the skill. I always liked Arctic Breath, but the fact that it wasn't a flying projectile always seemed kind of lame.

Maybe I'm blind after using other spells for so long but the impact on those projectiles seem nonexistent. The chilled ground looks cool but the animation is as always underwhelming

chaos dot multiplier on items, ok, that seems like a counter to stat sticks. Oh wait, it isn't, it's another stat stick.

" First all, we already have 3 cold-based-single-piercing-projectile-spells. By no mean we could need another one. Besides this, there are already existing support gem/passive nodes to make it pierce if you want. Secondly, they said nothing about the projectile changing its interaction with pierce/fork/chain from the previous skill, so it's to be supposed to work the same way. Let the proj. explode on first impact and mobs will literally run into the area; making it to explode at the end of the mob pack or to don't explode at all looks far from being a good idea. Specially taking into consideration that it's a slow projectile and would take forever to explode if it pierces ;) Feel free to ckeck some skill suggestions:

Skill effect looks terrible compared to the current one. I mean, compare the new skill effect with the old one:

Support gem just to make one skill work? (One. Cold snap and vortex are garbage even after rework. Noone uses these). What happened to skill design? This rework is DoA. It lacks any feedback/impacr. The sound is terrible. That chilled ground look like dirty white rags and nothing gives any indication that it deals damage. The damage scaling is a long list of donts and will nots. It is not intuitive what is going on. Rework quality 2/10 All this skill needed was the flying part and damage tweak. Maybe thw cold dot (but why that dot is MOVING??) Alas. Does it convert from phys? No. Garbage. Incompatible with statsticks and conversion == garbo Btw occultist and cold dot? Lol.. | |
" Booooo! I want the traveling skulls back, the new skill looks abolute boring. I really loved the visuals of the skill and was hoping they would bring a cool useful rework for a cool 3.5 starter. Let's wait for the other cold skill reveals. Would have been enough to make the chilling ground just give a dot dmg and let anything else it was. Was gonna play ED Contagion + Minion hybrid anyway as a league starter, although I was certain that it couldn't go far into the endgame.
A new axis to scale might change that. :) Online delenda est:
When the lifecycle of PoE will draw to an end many years from now, there needs to be a final patch making it available offline. |
