Performance-wise, using MSI Afterburner to monitor, my findings have been that PoE is often barely using available CPU/GPU resources, even though I'll have lots of those times where the FPS drops super low.

Yeah, I can attest to that as well. I'm using hardware far from the best you could get, but I average maybe a 20% load or so most of the time; the game's gotten a LOT more efficient compared to the worst part back during 2.x or so. Hopefully they can corral all those exceptions where it gets worse.

AFAIK for the individual (brief) spikes, it's due to latency inflicted by having to load data from disk. I would confidently say that right now the part of the game's code that performs the worst by far is the loading code. Granted, PoE isn't alone in a game being generally solid but with terrible loading scripts. *coughBethesdacough*

When Incursion started, I pretty fast realised that i had to buy more ram to play without crashes... What should i buy now for delve?

If you're at 8 GB or so, you should still be just as fine. A bit less than that... Well, you'll have the same problems as with Incursion. My recommendation to cope: play with minimal/no browsers open, (ESPECIALLY if it's Chrome, Opera, or another Chromium-based browser: those can potentially eat up to a gigabyte or more per tab) and probably close and restart the game every few hours.

"Screen Space Point Light Shadows Technique" sounds like an awesome kung fu move.

Hah, graphics programming is FULL of names like that. "Deferred Rendering" is one of my favorites. (could be a post-punk band name!) Oh, and "Z Fighting" is NOT related to the "Dragon Ball" series at all. ;)

Hey GGG. are you thinking about implementing RTX in the future? :)
Games with Ambient Occlusion has always much better immersion.
Omg, how cool it looks. Don't know about my hardware but will see. If it can be disabled that's great. But regardless of everything - it still is awesome improvement. Great job!

Edit. End that darkness, that gloom! Pure PoE vibes!
Smile! <3

Im also curious.

(RTX is the new ray tracing technology of Nvidia.)

I think most people won't have the new RTX GPUS especially with the ridiculous prices Nvidia wants to charge. Most game on 150-$300 GPUS.

true, they are kinda expensive, but Nvidia is saying that the future is in RTX. So it is highly likely that the next couple of series also will have that kind of technology. so why not implement it in the game to be focused on the future? :)
Would you please show us a footage of this incredible new graphical augment you are adding to the game (this "GI") but used in a map with high mobs density a full party in which each individual is of course using those shiny SHINY SHINY SHINY MTXs you are so fond of GGG. Would you?

And would you please also do it so that you have permanent 60 FPS? And after that is accomplished would you reveal to the rest of us what are the specs of the machine able to manage all of this?

Thank you in advance.

Looks really nice, but I'm afraid I won't be able to appreciate it, as there are already to many effects on screen for me, that distract me from what's really important (monsters, loot etc.) I would have preferred an option to turn unnecessary effects like those anoying shadows off completely.
