Tencent has Invested in Grinding Gear Games
" Why consider company size, why not consider quality of the product? |
|
" Well that attitude certainly makes me want to buy another round of stash tabs... |
|
" They should have made that calculation before they sold to an awful company like Tencent. Me not being willing to pay a nasty company like that money is not my fault. That's GGG's fault for selling Path of Exile to said nasty company. The time for concern about the possible self-fulfilling prophecy of us withdrawing support causing Tencent to do what Tencent does to its property was before the buy-out. If we withdraw our support over something we don't like, the fault for any possible failure of PoE is with the CAUSE of our withdrawing support - not us. We are not obligated to spend. " It was considered. Chris and company pretty small made quality decisions and a fantastic game. History has shown us what happens when the giant corp swallows a game. 80% is no investment that is a purchase. |
|
" Well, it is still GGG making PoE and the game has not changed, just the ownership of the company. And if the game stays fantastic idc if the owner is tencent or GGG, a good game is what I am willing to pay for. If things starting to become strange or bad I can reduce or stop my support, but for the moment nothing has changed. Of course I am worried that that can happen, I wrote about that earlier. But I refuse to write of PoE just because the ownership has changed. And I really do not understand, why so many people seem to hate tencent, probably they, like me, never heard about that company before. |

This isn't the case where Disney bought LucasArts and forced them to do something terrible. This is the case where Disney bought Marvel and told them to do something great with the money, almost ten years later they have name to some of the best movies to date.

I was wondering to upgrade to some top tier support pack now that I've money, thanks i didn't do that a few weeks ago. It'll be without me now (and at least until i'm sure of what happens) but still i wish you all the best for the future.

i played before a3 came out, and i really hope that everyone who spent so much time on this project really pays out, because i love path of exile and i hope that the people who made it what it is reap the rewards that they deserve. With that said i just hope once the rewards are reaped they leave this game in the hands of people who feel the same way that i do, and i feel like tencent might feel the same way right now, but as soon as winds turn south they will change how they feel until the money is in their pocket again. If ever i see a microtransaction for anything related to playing the game, i will know exactly where the mistake was made, and i will buy supporter packs more conservatively until an amount of time has passed until i am comfortable investing my money again. Tencent gaming cares about money only.

I've been a supporter... Many times over. Way back since closed beta, and have felt that every time I threw money at PoE I was "investing" in pretty much an indie dev with a big vision and that gave me a sense of investing in making the game better and supporting GGG because they deserved it! That will come to an end for me now. I will no longer feel like I support GGG, and I know if I do a bunch of it will end up not going towards GGG and PoE anymore. I hope it all turns out well, I do, because I love PoE. But the time of my support, at least financially for PoE has come to an end.

Wow.... just wow.
Didn't see this comming, well i did, but hoped it wouldn't happen. I tried this once before with project offset, big plans for a great game, Intel bought the shit and closed it within 6 months, leaving community hanging thinking wth. happened. Im sure that won't happen with POE, but damn i feel sad now. I could go on like rest in this thread about stopping support and stop playing, but right now im.. like.. hmm.. And no, Diablo 3 is not an option. |
