Honestly, I can't blame you for feeling that way; I have similar reservations myself. But that right there is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Like you said, that will force Tencent to mess with the game and drive people away. If business were to continue as normal, they probably wouldn't be motivated to mess with the game - that's exactly what they expected when they invested. However, if profits decline sharply, they will be forced to intervene....

If that happens, it is on GGG not us. They made the decisions, our family is simply reacting to it. If it comes to be, it's not our fault. Blaming the former supporters who withdraw money when the company goes down a path they won't follow is rather silly.

This decisions and how people deal with it entirely on the management.

When people yell or belittle the folks leaving, considering leaving or holding off on supporting, they are doing nothing but potentially driving those folks away for good.

The targets will not be "shamed" into paying more money or continuing to play. Nasty comments, telling them they don't know anything about business, calling them chicken-littles and lairs only makes them more determined to never return and never support again.

If you really care about keeping people who are worried or upset, attacking them is not going to improve the situation. It might make you feel better kicking them around in the short term, but it ultimately only hurts GGG.

Time to reduce the prices supporter packs since you are now swimming in moolah, better yet give it as freebies.

You're not independent anymore, somewhere someday, someone's gonna be pulling the strings and sadly it is not GGG.

If stating simple facts hurts people who think with their feelings before facts, then I'm afraid we're both at an impasse here. Just because people like that are so afraid of change they would rather stick to their opinion even with evidence against it, doesn't put the blame squarely on the shoulders of people trying to point out that maybe things won't be as bad as you think they will be in the future. Getting upset over something that you don't understand never worked very well in real life, much less the internet, you know, and it's an attitude all of us would be better helped fostering, because it would improve things to no end.

I'll believe GGG are no longer independent when p2w shit starts appearing in the international version of PoE.

Until that time I would hold off on believing that the sky is falling if I were you.

I am sad

It is because I long for something that isnt completely integrated into the capitalist corporate world. A place where actual people like Chris etc. provide a product and not an interchangable executive board in a skyscraper.

I know this is romantic but the spirit maintained itself quite well - untill now =(

Will still play but its another nail in the coffin adding to my general frustration with the global economy and its mechanics.
Keep the good work, all is missing at poe is a new game engine, kinda smooth gameplay

It's not Capitalism that's the problem, it's unfettered Corporatism.

While I'm not against allowing investors into companies, I'm quite cynical towards Tencent.

Time will tell at the end of the day. I'll still likely buy a supporter pack when the new league starts - after that it's up to GGG and the ongoing development plan.
maybe now drop rates will get fixed and we'll get an auction house.

TO me GGG created an amazing game but development on this game has been lacking in the past few years.

EDIT: maybe they now have the money to scrap this game and start a new game. with better drop rates, better systems, better graf engine. exc.

POE was a great game around 3 years ago. this last league was a complete joke. Some people dont want to restart every 3 months and the standard league is boring as sin with insane prices on gear so starting there is useless.

The whole wipe and restart sucks. its getting old. I think POE needs to take a page from BDO and put max prices on items.
