Instead of a complete skill revamp, using the monster version of the skill might worth a try.
For Ice spear, you don't have to remake it but just change it to Merveil's channeling-barrage version. It revives the underused gem by adding channeling tag to a cold spell which is the only damage type that has no channeling spell. On top of that, a barrage-like projectile spell also serves as a good single-target. (suggestion: can scale chill effect with gem quality, and has threshold gem that grants stun immunity while channeling ice spear) |

I think this is great, honestly.
You should not only look into doing more new content (which you have to, as you know), but also look back and take a close look at the old content. At some point you have to manage the amount of content there is and the smooth out the disconnect between new and old content. I think you should rework and adjust old content WAY more often. Bestiary league e.g. is a good step towards making crafting more fun, but the base mechanics of affix rolls are too unrestricted to actually make it fun. (Just as a side note, restrictions are what make things fun, not freedom. Key nodes like CI are fun because of their major downside, which is a huge restriction, which in turn makes it fun. Complete freedom of choice inevitably leads to a small number of superior options, whereas restricted choices make things more interesting. Having to work around major restrictions is way more fun, than just choosing between the best options out of all options.) These underused skill reworks are a perfect way to make way for new and exciting skills that may or may not be similar to the old skills they once were. I think it's okay to discard old skills completely in favor of a full rework. You should not hang onto old content you put a lot of effort in if it just does not work out. It is sad if a lot of work didn't pay off in the end, or is reduced into nothingness with time and new better content, but that's how it is. At some point it is simply necessary to go back and either remove or significantly alter old content, be it skills or other game mechanics. Do NOT nerf the crit chance on ice spear.
PLEASE. Ice Spear - CWDT lvl 1 - GMP - Power charge on crit. Power charges and EO setup. AUTOMATICALLY. Can be used together with the OoS, but unlike the OoS, the ice spear setup does not require additional micro. It is not quite as reliable (because it is on CWDT), but it is still powerful. |

If you are currently in progress of graphical change of skills, please also rework righteous fire celestial mtx look, the stationary void textures are low quality. Make it look like other celestial effects (more moving like textures like on shaped items).
