Skill Revamps - Part 1
The reason Charged Dash is so terrible is because unless you have an absurd amount of attack / movement speed ....the skill charges like molasses. And even then, the effective range / area of the skill is nonsense for the amount of time and gearing you need to do to use the skill.
It's vastly more effective to just move up to the mob and attack it. If someone was going to use a movement skill to deal damage, they would just use leap; there's no finicky mechanic, no crazy gear investment, and it always works. Why does Blade Flurry work while Charged Dash doesn't? Because you don't have to power it up for days on end before you can do something. It's not Fun to use Charged Dash. Changing it from overlapping damage areas to bigger static ones isn't going to change people's minds on that. The skill has to function a lot less clunky, and require a lot less inane stat choices before it feels like it's getting somewhere. It's like Level 1 Flameblast at 0% increased cast speed vs Level 10+ Flameblast at 100%+ increased cast speed. Nobody enjoys the bare bones Flameblast experience, it's horrid, clunky, and ineffective. A skill should feel good to use from the very start, not after huge investment. Which is why people love using Flameblast with multiple totems, or at a much higher level when when you first get it; because then it starts to feel more enjoyable. You can't make skill revamps without addressing whether people will feasibly pick it up and run with it from the start. And if people won't even invest into the skill later on ...then you know you have a bad design. |

As long as they don't nerf anything more, then this is a step in the right direction. They've already nerfed so many things into the ground...

Nerf Righteous Fire. It is.. unattractive and unappealing how many people are using righteous fire. I feel like I'm walking into a game of clones that lacks diversity and originality. It's not your fault RF has been a thing for years and got buffed unnecessarily. But Hey. just my 2 cents. It appears you agree since you're trying to get people to use other skills, but why not do that AND nerf it back to how it was, because, hey, the majority of the server used it anyway.

Can't wait to hear the nerfs to easy and cheap builds, and buff to grind your wallet out/get rich in game builds!
I'm still at only 2 ex drops total in game time!!! It seems I need to spend more on stash tabs or skins to get them to drop more, beta was hard! " I'm placing my bet on that never happening. OT: cool, looking forward to seeing the reworks. Here's hoping that if any existing skills get nerfed, the nerfs won't be massive, because having a skill nerfed to the point where noone wants to play it anymore is just kind of lazy :D. |
