I'm level 93 right now, 80% into the level and so, so close to 94. I hate the pressure. I hate the ridiculously slow progress. I hate this constant sense of dread, knowing I could fuck it all up at any moment and lose hours and hours worth of progress by getting myself killed. I absolutely HATE the experience penalty. And I never, ever want it to be removed.

The idea that I could just blindly stomp into every battle, every boss fight, every map with every asshole modifier and just die my way through like an idiot simply doesn't sound fun to me. I want death to hurt. I want to feel like I earned those levels. Yes, it's a damn chore. It can be frustrating as fuck. But it feels so damn good when you progress despite all that and get shit done.

This ^. It's pretty easy to design a build that can survive loss of connection. Invest in max block and a use one of the three retaliation skills like vengeance etc. Did such a build in Hardcore before and the only thing that can kill you is chaos ground degen(if you don't have capped chaos res) or a one shot.

hundreds of people said this before you. you just wrote a massive toxic post about something that have reasons not to happened. reaching level 90 is an endgame goal for casuals. reaching level 100 is only for the most dedicated, the ones who played the game since the very beginning. i think this is why they make the level achievement per league be 70-80-90.
i don't understand why people complain about an exp penality from level 90-100 when they clearly aren't meant to reach that unless they have the trust in their skill and knowledge.

How about just tone it down a little bit? It does feel way too frustrating right now, to lose a day's play time over one bad moment of play. I have no doubt it's a real trigger for some people to quit.
How on earth can you expect us to read your post, let alone considering it, with only 24 exclamation marks?

Anything below 30 is a waste of internet space.
I rather have 20% exp penalty and have them remove all those additional exp nerf at high lvl.
Death penalty is healthy for the game for the reasons listed by many other posters in this thread. I do think leveling past 90 should take less time, as the grind becomes obscene even for a grindy game with grind-loving players.

My main issue is bad build balance renders non-meta builds liable to die to seemingly random and inconsistent damage spikes which are hard to learn from. I’ve sometimes felt like a build just doesn’t have wiggle room to improve survivability bc they’re not using the most OP mechanics. It really depends on the build.

Even worse is when stuff kills me that feels like it “shouldn’t” (especially when my character has recently become MORE tanky), then I just don’t die for a while and wind up leveling without needing to make any changes. At that point it just feels like luck.

But none of that is due to the death penalty, which needs to remain intact.
