Item Splitting Beastcrafting Recipe Disabled
" Rollback is unreasonable and will piss off many people more. Imagine all the casuals and newbs who dont even know what's going on, suddenly finding half their items missing - say goodbye to all those (new) players and future income. The same with D - would piss off even more people than a rollback. B is probably impossible, as it would require item tracking. C will happen. The league will remain as is and GGG might throw in some bribes, to keep people playing. When night falls

"There's a common misconception in the community that our balance team doesn't play Path of Exile. They actually do play it, a whole lot. We have people with level 100 hardcore characters, multiple famous community members who have come to work for us and you may not even know it. The minimum requirement to join our QA team is 1000 hours of PoE experience, and we still turn people with that prerequisite away if they're not good enough at the game. Our design, balance and QA team are experts at Path of Exile."

" I think this is the most important part of the entire post as it suggests that GGG knew that 3.2 was not tested properly. I also think that it underlines some of the community's comments that GGG care more about releasing MTX as quickly as possible while not really caring if the new mechanics of a league work as intended. GGG management should hang there heads in shame, as members of the community picked up on how this could be abused when the video was released AND GGG STILL DIDN'T REALISE HOW IT WOULD BE ABUSED. From the outside this looks like a total failure from QA testing, all the way to the very top of GGG management. In any other industry heads would roll over something like this as it makes the product, and the team behind it look very amateurish at best. Moving forward, even though I really do not like this league, I honestly hope that some good can come from the monumental screw up releasing it has turned into. This is a chance for GGG to show the community what it is capable of. This really could be a chance for them to hit one out of the park so to speak, and come up with a brilliant solution to the problems this league has encountered. |

People are ripping into GGG & the craft users for this, and I don't get it.
First part in reference to the people who were using the recipe. We're supposed to be able to dupe six links. That part is intentional. People who were duping elder/shaper properties are the "abusers" of a bug, but even then, there was no way they could have known that it was a bug at the time. As far as anyone knew, the interaction was intended (bolstered by the fact that this worked on other base item properties like links and lab enchantments), and on top of that, since the mechanic was released late, the assumption should be that it was intended. They got very rich off of it, sure, but just like metacrafting way back when (or any powerful crafting mechanic introduced), the rich will always get richer. Had this mechanic come out with the league proper, the first person to find a 6l base would have been rolling in exalts too. I see no issue here. They're rich, and I'm not, but 6 links are gonna be cheap this league, so we all benefit anyway however disproportionately. Edit: apparently there was a little message that says it didnt work on elder items that I didn't see before. That makes it a bit more questionable, but again relating it to the metacrafting thing, we were told that it didnt work even though it did. Its a bit questionable and maybe worth a slap on the wrist, but calling for a ban of the accounts that used it is extreme. As if I (or anyone else) wouldn't have also tried to make bank off of the mechanic while it existed given the chance. Second part is in reference to GGG. They can't possibly know how any of this would have went down. They simply don't have enough testers to get an accurate representation of how many of this specific beast people would be finding when introduced to the million player live realm. Depending on how many testers are in use, the difference in apparent rarity could easily fall within expected variation of how common the beast was intended to be. The item duping recipe was supposed to be powerful. If there were no powerful endgame crafts to do, who would give a damn about the league mechanic. You need something that rivals t8 essences and annulment orbs. As for the bugs, they're an unfortunate part of game development. Sure, there are disproportionately more this time around, but that's bound to happen when you have had a game running for this long. One of the updates is gonna be buggier than the rest. On top of that, the focus of development was on ascendancy rework and balance, which as far as I can tell went off basically without a hitch. Some of the bugs like Hall of Grandmasters would have been found with a bit more development time, but GGG is a professional company on a schedule. There's a group of us that would be totally okay delaying leagues or updates a week to get more ironed out, but that won't fix every bug (you'll never find everything until you have millions of playtesters doing their best to break everything), and on top of that there is (a probably larger) group that would hate to have updates released late. Be it that time off work is taken specifically for that time or just someone looking into the game deciding not to play because the game wasn't updated & didnt appear on their steam front page right then. I don't know, there are plenty of reasons why you can't just delay hyped up launches. Point is, theres a finite amount of time that cannot be extended for testing, and sometimes, especially when there are a lot of things to test and that testing is focused on specific parts (ascendency this time probably), some things are gonna slip through the cracks. That's unfortunate but understandable imo. in short, people are always gonna be pissy. This event just gives the especially pissy players a valid outlet to vent. There are plenty plenty more that are a bit more understanding of bugs and unexpected consequences of mechanics handed to players in good faith. Keep up the good work, and let me stress that you did a very good job of disabling the recipes quickly. Its the differnce between the 6l market being temporarily flooded for a week and the 6l market being flooded for the rest of the league. Last edited by OxidisedGearz#3098 on Mar 8, 2018, 10:27:37 PM

In the end, the SSF community suffers most, again. We can not trade items, we can not profit from too many rare beasts spawning, except that it makes our life easier.
With the "fix" to spawn rates, we are now once again the dumb and it makes you wonder why it´s always us, that have to suffer for things that the RMT community does. It´s not our fault that people play in parties, find many beasts and then use them for crafting. It doesn´t matter how much they abuse crafting, it has no impact on us and yet, we must pay the price. GGG, please stop caring about the trade league, it can never be balanced, never be fixed. Start doing something for SSF, this is where the big boys play and where it matters. Give us back the red beast spawnrates from release, right now it´s terrible to play your game, as we find no beasts to capture. Thanks! |

" "SSF" is where the big boys play? Wat? Is this post sarcastic? I can't tell. You have done a fine job "Good thing they nerfed the carto, it wasn't fun to find one in every map." - Haborym Last edited by monkuar#2123 on Mar 8, 2018, 11:20:23 PM
