Yes. Soon we will see which way Chris and company are taking PoE and learn if Charan quit because of what he knew in advance. It had better not be PoE Immortal.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

@Charan once again for you <3. Did it today just for the sake of being bored :P and paying respect to my beloved friend from far away <3.

Best regards,
Alen !

89% crit is excellent! Yes, farming the sword out of respect for our lost Charan is the best tribute to him (and we get a great 6L sword to use).

Depending on what 3.9 is about, I may have to farm another one.

Unless the info we here at ExileCon derails us (end of the line forever like Charan... are we sure?) I'll be back in 3.9.0 for another Charan's Sword. You can count on that. I love playing the dance of death with Uber Hillock. My last UH battle with a Templar and Glacial Hammer after the Legion league melee changes was surprising very enjoyable. Just a great one on one fight to the death. Having a longer wind up attack meant dodging him worked very well. I actually got to play like the PoE of old for just under 4 minutes where skillful timing of attacking/moving was needed. Without the usual clusterfuck of fx it was nice to be able to see to do that. And without a gazillion mob packs the server side simulation easily kept up so there was 0 lag to contend with. Too bad we can't get this in the endgame (god damn power/speed creep).

The whole point of that sword was to redirect attention and gameplay to first location. And it worked.

Yes, placing the farming for a 6L item right at the start was pure genious by GGG (or did Charan suggest that?). Either way it was brilliant. Even more amazing was the first player to discover this. I'd never ever have thought "what would happen if I didn't go into Lioneye's Watch but just logged out, waited for the TSB zone to reset, and run it again, and again, and again? Would I get something different eventually?" When I first read that thread in Dec. 2017 I was like "your shitting me! Really? How the hell did someone figure that out?" Now with the socket mechanics being turned upside down for PoE 2 there won't be any need to farm for 1 anymore other than the desire to continue to honer Charan and his great creation. Only other reason to do it in PoE 1 when PoE 2 comes out is to get the extra voice dialogues (I should think GGG will keep that in for PoE 1).

Now we all mostly know why Charan quit this game. Losing the 6L on gear (looks like we'll get 4 unlinked sockets max) destroys the value of all 6L weapons and chests. I do see the convenience that the "sockets on skills" allows (just swap 1 skill gem and viola, you're good to go) and that it opens up the game to play skill combos instead of just spamming 1 or 2 skills forever on a build, but it puts an emotional damper on all the time spent acquiring/crafting 6L gear so it's a bitter sweat change.

Bitter sweet change, but oh my god needed one !
GGG thank you for all the great things you are doing. You have combined every element of all other great Rpg's and joined them together as one Diamond, that will shine Forever.

This is coming straight from the heart <3
I'm pretty sure that's NOT why Charan left, but ok.

Also, the whole thing about the sword wasn't really "figured out" by someone, Charan outright told us in the "Goddess Ssords discussion thread". Not even sure if that still exists. And yeah, it was his idea to have it in drop only in Twilight strand or from div cards. Though he wanted the div cards to be the easier/faster way to obtain the sword. Uber hillock was GGG's idea though.

As for the socket/linking changes, I guess the sword will simply be the only 1 handed weapon to have 4 sockets.
I just hope it'll be available somewhere in PoE 2.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
