Announcing Path of Exile: Bestiary League

They only talked about ascendency, yes some was too strong and others needed attention but i hope they change more things like actual tree and skills a whole season just for 3 skill et few items thats not realy worth the wait.

Besides thats im concerne by this monster hunter system, like its interesting but im afraid that it will be anoyingly boring at a point to farm again and again some mob with a special skill to "capture" them.

Last point the game visual is not tweek, i mean ok ok you want to make money by seeling skins, thats fine but cmon having such standar armor and weapon that ALL looks the same, thats a litle bit too much like you cant have cool feeling and sensation WITHOUT putting money :(
meh...
Sigh.

15 mins later: you can sketch out an entire tree of Flask = Temporary summons which have various bonuses / passives / auras etc and balance it incredibly easily.

You can even tier it:

A) 5 second "oh fcuk" league

B) 20 second "traditional flask" league

C) 40 second "Pet that does X like mini totems stuff"

D) 120 second "interesting mechanic that precludes using other flasks during this time league"

I mean: this shit is not hard.

Give me two weeks with the excel sheets and the code: you'd have an entirely new mechanic which was balanced from level 1 > 100.

Oh. Sorry. Capture Monsters to craft items, 1/5.

"OK".
ahha we monster hunter/pokemon now :)
"

Well that's a disappointment.
Never liked Pets, now I have to collect them all.

Won't be buying the supporter packs. See you in 5 months maybe.

I agree with you. It's very disappointing. They said it would exceed our notion of traditional expansion like FoO, but no, it's just the Pokemon league. Where are the new much needed character models? Every MTX is a risk since these models are so damn old. With new characters, I would be confident in armour that cost 60 USD.
Now I wish I hadnt bought the supporter packs right away.

I've not actually played a League, so was looking forward to the experience and thought I'd cut my teeth on it and plonk ~$20-40 on the experience.

Some questions:

1) Why on earth are captures / lexicon tied to a 1/5 mechanic? That's a terrible bit of padding that doesn't need to exist (esp. in a temporary league). It's lazy - and if you then tie that to a crafting system where RNGeebus is at the helm? Ye Goddess, that's bad. FFS, it's 2018, let's break this terrible design mechanic where we pad out content behind 1/8 found or 1/5 captured. Nonsense.

2) It all feels very "end-game content only". While I understand the Whales can finish the story in less than 10 hours, it's not exactly how you create new Whales. How's about a more gentler curve where capturing creatures is implicit from the very start as choice? i.e. each town should have a NPC desiring captures and so on. Gating it behind Hideouts and then making it a crafting grind is wasting a massive potential for a new mechanic. In fact, it's probably the worst way to introduce a mechanic that talented people spent time coding.

3) As stated: the current mechanics (esp for pet builds) make the targeted assassin missions almost impossible. Adding in content that requires 'saving' mobs until a trap / mechanic is deployed is a recipe for disaster. Your engine simply doesn't support this level of nuance at the moment - how's about coding something where "Target X if used = no attacks from pets" etc? Oh, and don't make it a frakking skill, the hotbar is tiny enough as it is (esp. for pet builds).

4) Price point: currently it's really bizarre. You can drop $20 for points that are useful or $30 for a pack that contains less points than if you bought $20+$5+$5 and then all the options jump into $60 - $480 territory. Newsflash: plonk a decent points / deal @ $30 - $40 and you're golden. I'm willing to dump $30 on you: I don't care about cosmetics and if your "deals" are worse than purely buying points... whelp. I spend less.

5) Pokemon land, the Hideout Edition: all cosmetic and sacrificed on the altar (see what I did there?) of boring mechanics. You'd have been far better off making the sacrifice not a boring x1 frog bandit, x4 elemental wheeze, x7 imps with twitching fingers = %10 shot at a craft that you'll ditch in 20 levels but something meaningful. Cosmetics? Check. Pets? Check. New abilities? Check.

Crafting RNGeebus itams that might be good for a single build but no-one else cares? When there's literally four other cases of exactly the same mechanic in game already?

You think Whales will be excited by this? What. The. Frakk. Are. You. Smoking?

Oh, and trust me: if you'd made the crafting give a %RNGeebus chance at pets, people would be throwing money at you.

No, they'd be doing more than that: they'd be orgasmic over this League[1].

Oh, here's a freebie:

6) Instead of boring items, we made crafting the new capture mechanics into a new type of flask that summons <insert monster X here>. Some Pet-Flasks scale with %minion modifiers, some with <zzzzz add in all build details here>

Wow. 10 mins, just made your League so much better. Oh, and game-changing, since people have to choose to use pet-flasks rather than their current meta.

~

Anyhow: I'll play it. I'll dump $20 on you. But you're doing this all so wrong it's not funny. 1/5 captured? Let me guess, CTRL+C / CTRL +V gets hard to do in 2018 in the spreadsheets?

ZZZz.

[1] Obviously they'd be shittier pets than the paid ones, but hey-ho.

Guy who's played in no leagues and purchased no packs since closed beta tells GGG how to improve their league and price their packs 3 hours after the league announcement...

How about we wait a few days for the in-depth explanation that always follows the league announcements before declaring the league an endgame-centric pokemon league. Chris has stated in their design videos that league themes need to be encountered almost as soon as players leave Lioneye's Watch - it's unlikely that this mechanic will be tied to hideouts or mapping.

Yeah, still don't agree with the new direction you've been going with challenge league supporter packs. From 60 bucks every second challenge league to double that every single challenge league. Really would have been nice if you at any point explained why this decision was made, perhaps some kind of understanding could have been garnered.

And that is aside from my issue with releasing challenge league supporter packs with every single challenge league, which, you know, was originally not how they were presented and justified. But hey!

lol wut
I personally think this is not the type of game to have people catching pets... lmao. What a bummer. Very disappointed. No support.
Does the IGN video really suggest they removed uber lab??
