People can complain about everything. What you consider bad I find entertaining. Lab itself is not something outstanding in poe. It's part of the game that makes as much sense as everything else. " Lab is the only place where you can't trade with others. Lab is the only place where you cannot use Vaal skills in the main fight. Lab is the only place where a single crash or disconnect is guaranteed to wipe all your progress. Lab (and trials) are the only place where combat is completely irrelevant to whether you succeed at certain parts. It's fine if you like the lab, but let's not pretend that it doesn't have a host of unique problems that no other part of the game has. |
" And the primary unique problem that labyrinth seems to have over any other part of the game is the amount of the player base that thinks it needs to be fixed or made optional. The reason for this, I believe, is that the play is most different from any other part of PoE. The things listed by suszterpatt as well as the trap game play is not kill-monsters-get-loot game play like most of the rest of PoE. " So is the reward. Its not regular loot you can equip Its not even consuming gear slots Its the most powerful passive upgrade you can get Its the only upgrade you can actually farm deterministically Ofc there has to be a massive downside or opportunity costs to it. Thats what the lab is. I know you will tell me "there are other ways". Sure, but thats not what GGG implemented. They are invested into lab and cant just scrap it. That would literally delete months possibly years of dev-time. I dont like the lab myself, but its not that bad or time consuming or anything, that you cant do it. Which means: There is zero need to overhaul the lab. The fact, that you dont like the content does not justify an overhaul. Thats childish. |
Overhaul and scrap are two very different things, last I checked.

" It's true that the rewards are OP from the labyrinth. The ascendancy points are so OP that lab is really mandatory. That doesn't make it fun. That makes it worse. It makes it content that many find loathsome that they have to suffer through anyway. Regarding your childish accusation, you're actually being the one that is childish. You're ignoring the fact that this is the Feedback and Suggestions forum created by GGG to encourage people to give them feedback and suggestions on their game. Games have the overall goal of attracting people because they are fun for those people to play. When there's content in a game that many people find bad compared to the rest of the game then wise game developers should want to fix it. " Im not surprised and expected this kind of answer. Please let me explain you, why still dont think the lab shouldnt be reworked. The Lab didnt create itself. It was actually some GGG staff members working on it. Lets assume it was a small team, like 10 people. Including gamedesign, coding, producing, sound design, level design, Arts and QA. Lets also assume they have been working on this for 12 month for a total of 120 month dev-time (which isnt even a lot). Lets also assume GGG pays 5k per person working on this per month. Thats not the salary, but the total cost. Which accumulates to 600k costs. Now all those numbers are assumptions. Lets say they did with just 50% of the manpower I suggested - the lab still did cost 300K. Now you are trying to well lets say encourage changes and you are backing this by nearly 1k players, that complained about the lab. Not doubting the numbers in your sig, Ill take them at face value. Now 1k players of a total playerbase of 150K is 0.6% players complaining. Which is good enough in your mind to ask GGG to delete something worth several 100K (actual number doesnt matter. It did cost money to create it). Do you really expect GGG to act on this? If GGG did so just because "not even 1% of the playerbase" doesnt like stuff, we´ll be down to the login screen in no time. There will always be a small irrelevant fraction of the playerbase complaining about every single feature in the game. So whats your point? You got none. Give feedback how bad lab is all you want. You cant expect GGG to act on this and expect to be taken seriously at the same time. Pick one. |
You don't thik that things are worth improving even if not a majority of people complain about them?
" Sure, but you dont want improvements - you want the lab gone. Btw 0.6% isnt exactly a minority. Its next to non existent |
