Labs should not be mandatory.

I don't find the Lab overly bad, just a bit dull and under developed.

The Trials however, those are tedious and not the slightest bit entertaining to do more than once.
They have no variety, no alternate paths, no different ways of solving, your build changes nothing and its a bit like running down a corridor where you have to dodge near 1 shot boss attacks because defences are meaningless.

Not really sure what their purpose is.

In order to unlock the full potential of your characters you need to go through trade. Trade for me is the most tedious, boring, annoying, momentum crushing experience I've had in videogames in a while. Even when I'm not in the lab and thus cannot trade, I have to leave the map, go through potential haggling, people that don't show up and other random crap, it is extremely annoying. It's destroyed my experience of the game. I've practiced getting better at pricing items and doing trades fast, but it doesn't make it any more fun. It is just a drag on an otherwise good game. It's like all the fun screeches to a halt as we are forced to endure this mandatory (in order to achieve full character power, boring, frustrating shit.

so much this, lab can be anoying for some builds but represents such a small percent of the game that is hardly a problem, just dont try to rush it in under a minute like every other map and traps wont be much of a problem. Trade in the other hand screw with one gameplay from biggining to end with all the botting, flipers, afk and what not yet when someone complains about it the most common response is "its part of the game, deal with it"

The problem is that you can get away without trading (there is an ssf mode btw), but you can't get away with not doing the lab since you can't find that kind of character development anywhere else in the game. You eventually will get all the uniques though, even ssf, btw.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

And what common sense solutions would you suggest to fix this problem? Something that would in no way take away the experience of those who enjoy trading like the solution I proposed for my problem?

Balance SSF drop rates for SSF, remove the possibility to convert SSF characters to normal characters. Does not impact non-SSF at all.

So we should just add a non-lab playing mode and everything would be fine? How many people do you know that have a Headhunter in SSF? Or an Atziri's Acuity?

Within the normal time of a league, I am almost 100% sure I can build a stronger character in a trading league without doing the lab, than in an SSF league with doing the lab.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

Was only a matter of time. You give people a finger, they will start demanding the whole hand. It's actually hilarious that you think it wouldn't affect other people at all. Considering 1. You can leave your proposed lootfest SSF anytime. And 2. You will force people to play SSF if loot is better there.

Can't you just be glad you got your SSF mode. *sigh*

If they adjusted SSF drop rates up and trade leagues pretty much emptied out, then more than anything else that would be a clear sign of how little enjoyment trade brought to the game for many.

That said, I like SSF drop rates being the same as for other leagues. I like that SSF is a kind of challenge mode; to me that's the point of it. Also, I don't think GGG will ever adjust drop rates up for SSF and that they'd be making a big mistake if they did that. The game would become less social if SSF really took off and trading more or less collapsed, plus leagues would empty out even sooner than they do because players would achieve their league-related goals more easily (and probably alone).

Back to the OP, lab serves as a welcome change from the usual grind for some and an irritating mini-game for others. That builds a case for making lab optional, and not something forced on everybody.

Despite years of resistance, GGG eventually figured out that SSF wanted their own space and they gave it to us. Hopefully at some point, even if it's only after having driven away a large number of players, many of whom have been long time supporters, many others who arrived and left shortly afterward, they'll figure out that lab is an annoying, sometimes rage-inducing pain in the fucking ass to far more players than they initially realized and finally make it optional.
Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

It has very little to do with enjoyment. Much more with people choosing the efficient route.

I think the lab got demoted to scenery alot over the last few patches already. I was and still am against lab but I think they did a decent job in making it less of a thing for people who don't want to spend much time there.

While i don't think SSF droprate needs to be buffed (i like the fact i can convert to normal at any moment), i doubt it would force anyone to play SSF. Unless it's 1000% more loot of course.
Yeah, I always feel... dirty, abused after getting that Ascendancy point. I usually need to take a bath to wash it away. Or suffer amnesia. Or lobotomy.

Its like my marauder got raped, except he did consent, reluctantly, because the guy doing it to him paid too well to pass it by and one needs to make a living.

Anyway. No amount of threads are (as it seems) convincing GGG to put that ... content away. So there we go, prepare your lubes, but only four times a league, no less, no more.

On the contrary, it has everything to do with "enjoyment" and PoE feeling "fun". Choosing the "efficient" route makes playing feel too much as "work" due to PoE not being sufficiently diverse regarding "replayability" as GGG suceeded in making the medium builds extinct, and we're left with either "metas" that can clear all content or "bad" builds that hit a ceiling at Kitava or white tier maps...

"Labyrinth" makes the experience of those underpowered builds tolerable via the Ascendancy points, but even there, instead of improving upon a "memorable concept", that should have been one of the "selling" points of PoE, GGG took the easy road, and "nerfed" the content and/or "bribed" players via loot to disregard the shortcomings...

I want to spend a lot of time playing all the content, and especially the "Labyrinth", but the current iteration feels underwhelming and provides a lacklustre "challenge", although Izaro is one of the more interesting fights available...
PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...
