Trials of Ascendancy, most hardcore unfriendly thing ever invented

It took me 3 characters but i finally managed to complete all the acts in the game (especially some of the new acts were filled with one shot mobs and bosses)

GGG really screwed hardcore, ever since they introduced "Trials of Ascendancy".

I been playing hardcore since the beta never played any softcore.

So going about those Trials of Ascendancy i figured i just complete the game, i killed act 10 kitava and had access to maps (never did any maps yet this league)

Being lvl 68 i figured before i go to maps i do some of those "Trials of Ascendancy" to get some of those Ascendancy points.

I went to act 3 catacombs a lvl 27 zone, all monsters died in 1 hit from miles away, i ran one of those floating chainsaws and died instantly. WTF!!!

How overtuned is that Trials of Ascendancy crap if a lvl 68 instantly dies in a lvl 27 zone??

The traps are base off % of your life, so it matters not how much max life you have. The, "I just overlevel the area/mobs" do not applies to traps. YOu either have to move super fast, have high regen, so you take less DoT, or navigate around the trap like you would playing super mario bros or earthworm jim.

By the way, theer is already a 700+pages thread on the lab, you should post there.
Trials of asc are ezmode, get real.
Quit after Legion, rejoined PoE to see what the game's like now in 3.12.
Happens to the best of us, and made me take my Harbinger Scion from her adventure to a simple test build character in standard; same trap too actually!

Figured I'd bite the bullet and just try Standard after the gods know how long...everything was ok with turning off global until I tried to buy a item off poe.trade.... the prices made me gag. Exalts for simple trash uniques and the decent price items 90% where AFK.... only managed to get two people to respond to my trade requests. The vast difference in player interaction let alone build mentality (which doesn't effect my gameplay but I just wanted to mention it) is just a turn off to me.

I know everyone has talked of the lab, but it really has been made a bit easier since I remember, but by the gods do I hate the traps... they just eliminate any motivation to try for those sweet points although somehow I manage to survive 4 out of 10 characters when I attempt to actually do them. How sad and surreal it feels to lose a super tanky/regen character to a freeze-up followed by a dead Scion running through the saw trial.
Yeah, I'll be completely honest with you:
The best way to get through the Trials is to brute force it with a Softcore until you learn things well enough to Hardcore it.
I have always taken it that GGG assumes that Hardcore Players are, well, HARD CORE.
As such, I seldom bother playing Hardcore, personally. It's just not worth it to me.
I'm just too much of an 'Ol Softie, I suppose ;)

I absolutely hated the Lab when they introduced it, but I guess I got used to it. The traps stopped scaring me at some point. Never get complacent about them and keep in control of your movement skill (don't run out of flame dash charges, and don't jump onto a blade in the middle of a slow area debuff!)

Now I only fear The goddess' green balls of condensed anti-framerate..
I actually have to say I like the Lab now when its shorter in normal and cruel.
Uber Lab is also fun endgame from time to time.

I do agree that Lab is nasty in HC, but it has a risk reward element I like. Think one of the most fun fights I have had in the game has been vs Izaro HC Merciless.
Depleting all my pots running around just trying to survie and getting my HP reged back to full life.
So much tension, when I finally got him it felt so damn rewarding getting those 2 Asendancy points.
The trials are a bit annoying though.

As someone who actually really enjoys lab and runs a lot of uber labs every league, the trials are often just unnecessarily long. Even in the uber lab you never face trap gauntlets of that size.

Is there really a reason that to get the offering, people have to go through 3 entire puzzles of traps? lol

Maybe just me.

Edit: I am talking about the uber trials here. The others seem ok.

Looks like my lvl 85 toon this league in uber lab, had low dps fight took way too long and i had full buffed izaro at phase one, decided to stay in fight for second and third encounter even if he put me really low like 100-200 /7000 hp several times. Finally he crushed me in the first fight after 10 mn of running around after i put him like at 3% life. Strong learning experience.
Should have recorded this shit.
