Reading into their statements, they appear to only care that "players take longer" and they appear to not care at all whether it's a good or bad reason.

I guess that's the result of when your company doesn't even actually PLAY (only sorta TEST) your own game, and instead you believe your standard-issue telemetry tools are God powers that let you see all, and are all you ever need to understand your game.

...To explain, they have a number of data-tracking tools, (which are standard for all online game developers, though GGG was a little late to the party) that let them track some basic sorts of info; e.g, average clear times, death:kill ratios for bosses, etc. GGG seems quite proud that they figured out how to create/use them, and place so much faith in them that they appear to be close to the ONLY input they use (replacing even trying to play the game themselves) for understanding how the game is going.

Go through Blood Aquaducts. The enemies corpse explode when they die and it killed me many time yesterday till i figured out what it was. The map is dark, grey and the ground gets covers in red so it becomes really hard to see the tiny dark red circle indicating the explosion.

There are a lot fo one shot mechanics in the game that are hard to see, or they animate and trigger so fast it is impossible for a player to respond.

I think in an upcoming patch/expansion they need to do a art and sound pass on many of these things, like they did with volitile, to make them more noticable, and slower triggered so that the player can use actual skill to dodge it.
For those of you indicating it's the new volatiles... I can confirm that is NOT what is being discussed here.

The new volatile is actually pretty cool and hilarious as it's trying to chase. The explosion or sudden hit described here is very, very difficult to see (if you can even see it at all).

I have no idea what it is or how to even describe it. It doesn't happen all of the time.

Next time it happens I need to write down the mods on the map and the type of enemy I just killed prior.

It's frankly just annoying at this point. I don't care if its in the game...but I just want to know what it is lol.
had it happen to me a few times.
Just figured it was the new volatile forming right on top of me - meaning there should be a delay before it can be triggered. or thought it was a corpse explosion effect.

either way it is quite frustrating to die to.
Lost a lvl 79 SSF HC yesterday to unknown 'blown the fuck up'. Was full health (4.6k) killing Map Malachia (primordial pool). was flicker strike build. Killed boss right when he was starting his 'go underground' animation. He died, loot popped out, then i got 'you are dead message'. no idea why i lost all health in one shot, but it sucks ass. I'm guessing it has something to do with his new 2x health and some sort of damage on dying that is a % of his health?

Sometimes after the boss dies, insanely strong little worms or something seem to spawn. They're nearly invisible. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, though. I couldn't get consistent results when I tested it after nearly dying the same way you did. Watch your ass in that boss room even after the boss is dead, though.
Had the invisible explosion too. Nothing around me and boom explosion wtf?
The new volatiles are cool, damn fast though :) and better than they were but like I had yesterday, in the middle of mob, flash visible for a maybe a second and hit for around 5300-5400 health through plenty of defences.

My guess would be some kind of hidden cast on death mechanic. Detonate dead or something like that. GGG seems to love their hidden modifiers. They are everywhere in this game. Could also be some kind of lag. Plenty of that as well.
I died two time to unknown, on separate ocasion when playing with same frend.
Frst time i seen volotile ball and i triger it and procided kiling other stuff on some distance, all of suden i insta die. This day i stoped to tinkering mu auras, after like 10 sec my frend faloving me poped on screan and i insta died... Idk what it is but can assume its some volotile invisibly homing to me or something?
