Path Of Blow Me The Fuck Up
Guys... This new mechanic has gotten REALLY old fast. 0-3 seconds after killing a pack all of a sudden you get an explosion and your dead... This is off trash mobs.
Izaro can hit me and I live. Bosses can hit me and I live. But a DEAD trash mob can blow the crap out of me WITHOUT warning or any kind of graphic. Just boom your dead. 3 deaths yesterday. One this morning. And... Im not talking about the blow up cloud that follows you or the white or red balls that blow up. This is a SHITTY mechanic that effects players that fight close to mobs. If mobs or a boss take me down thats great... Bring it on. but getting killed WITHOUT WARNING after combat is just BAD. NS Last bumped on Sep 1, 2017, 5:43:02 AM

I have 6.5k life on my berserker and after I kill some packs every once in a while my Savage Hit will trigger and I am left scratching my head.
I am also with you on this. I'm not sure if it is a bug or what it is, but there is some kind of post combat (invisible?) effect that kicks the shit out of my life pool sometimes and I have no idea what it is since it seems as if there are no enemies near by when it happens. It has slowed down a bit for me if I keep moving, but if I kill a pack and linger to pick up items sometimes it just triggers. I have no idea what it is or even how to report it when I see it since it is so inconsistent. It doesn't always happen...but when it does it chunks a good part of my health (sometimes kills me) and I have really no idea what it even is to begin to adjust my character for it. |

I think this is the topic about the random deaths in melee range? Had this a few times this week. Your character suddenly dies and you don't even know what hit you. The damage is either the new Volatile balls and sometimes invisible or at least hardly visible explosion.

Would like to know what this is about because I have not seen it myself and dont want to learn the hard way...
Similar thread? https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1977214 There are some monk(?) mobs which cause some throw some stuff effects on death. but they have clear visuals and dont seem to do much damage. Then sometimes there are some (Brine king minion?) tar tentacle things which (I think) cause some delayed explosion on death. It has visuals but not always easy to see. And they are rather rare. I have seen them in combination with Animated Reef in a 'Coves' map. Dont know how much damage the death explosion does (if it does any). No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

" If I were to guess, I'd say it is the new volatile balls. As soon as these come into contact with you, the balls disappear and then there is an explosion shortly after. In the thick of melee, the balls probably contact you immediately, disappear, and explode... which, in the thick of melee you may not notice until the explosion goes off. |

I know I've gotten one spontaneous death that I was able to deduce WAS a new effect for 3.0... That being good 'ol bearers, but with a twist: the game's new loading code decided not to properly show the rings before they detonated at first.
This is obviously problematic, because the appearance of those fire/shock/ice rings is supposed to warn you of the impending AoE damage, but if they "pop in" late (or not at all for the first few) then that completely removes player reaction speed (one of the tiny handful of elements in Path of Exile that could still be considered "skill") from the from the game. It's part of a broader issue: 3.0's shift in the way it loads things means I see a LOT of "pop-in," which is bad for a free-2-play game that, even with the new water shader, looks like it came out 10 years ago. It's hard to pinpoint what the issue is (like bearers not showing animations) but I've had several "what the hell" moments as well recently, where even a pack of white trash mobs will somehow bring me down to little to no health well after they are killed. Of course it also feels like half of the new monsters from 3.0 explode after death so maybe it's intended, but it sure sucks.
