Why is there no auction house?

The present trading system is bad. Like you trying to buy a map you see the low price is an alc, which you know is controlled by scammers/flippers. So you then search for prices of maps that are 1 or 2 Chaos and realize that this is also controlled by scammer/flippers which will never respond to the whisper for a trade. Put an AH and this crap will stop. because the scammer/flipper is not going to be able to put a price on the AH that will be bought immediately.

The answer is and always has been NO, there will be no auction house...it won't solve your problems with trade, it will change them a bit and you'll still be getting shafted and making it FAR easier for people to do it.

Literally the biggest game with an auction hose has constantly been dealing with people scamming others.

For instance I scammed people using it, during one of the winter events in TBC, literally a vendor selling snowballs at the entrance to the AH for a few copper, i would buy a load and dump them in and people would buy them at a gold.

Your reasoning is not right. You realize that if a scammer/flipper put a price on AH that it will be sold. The current trading system you can go thru pages of scammers low balling the hell of an item so some sucker will put their item on the market as a lowball price. There is going to be flaws in AH with scamming but it definitely better than we got now. You could take hours to figure what the item is really selling with the improper trading system we use. I think either cut the trading out of the game and watch POE die a fast death like D3, or start a trading system that works. To say the trading system doesn't need to be improved is just stupid!!!!

Introducing an AH on POE ain't gonna be a walk in the park. As a matter of fact i can imagine it being a really tedious process for a plethora of reasons. Nor its gonna be all rosy and swell once the AH will be introduced. It will come with its pros and cons.
Surely you will be able to save some time from having an automated trading process and you will be most likely content and happy with yourself for avoiding being scammed as frequent as you used to be (even though you still might have under-sold that last item for only a small fraction of its true value), but on the flip side scripts/BOTS and RMT will start reigning supreme. Things like that need to be tackled to some acceptable levels otherwise we'll all be farming/grinding for the scripters.

It is my opinion though that a well thought off implementation of an AH on POE can be the turning point that will boost POEs popularity significantly. For good or bad it remains to be seen...

BTW D3 died the moment the AH shut down, the presence of an AH was not what led to its downfall...

I actually like the way it is. To me, it brings a pen and paper feel to the game. But I also could be a masochist.

In all seriousness though, if they closed their API to third party sites, there would be more of a drop in the playerbase than I think some of you know.

wish game had AH.

Devs say bots will manupulate the economy if they add auction house but its not the case. The real reason is money. They need to sell premium stash tabs and if they make stash tabs automated like AH, people will riot about game being p2w so we left with that shitty trading system ruled by scammers and flippers.

Hey GGG, please lock this thread. Starting out in 2018 with another post to the "whipping a dead horse" thread about why no auction house in PoE is old and tired. Unless Chris has a mini-stroke or has an RNGesus vision which alters his thinking on the AH we will never see an auction house in PoE. Time to stop asking.

Would have liked automated trading, but GGG is very resistant to that. Ok, I'm fine, but how about doing something to stop price fixing then?

I think everyone is unanimous that needs to go. It's very bad that the first 5-10 results of worthy items can be fake.

Other than GGG giving us an asynchronous trade function so we can pay the B/O price to keep the sellers honest on their asking price so we can eliminate most of the scammers (just add a code number to the listing that we use in-game to get into the sell/buy window with the item for sale at the top and the buyer can put in the exact currency and buy it) I don't see that GGG can easily tell a scammer price from a real legit seller price. This would also eliminate the "seller is AFK" bullshit we have to suffer with all the time. For those that say "bots will run amuck and ruin the economy" the obvious answer is to use a captcha system to stop auto-bot buying/selling. Lots of websites use a captcha system to stop bots.

Edit: Also I have seen many posts from pissed players that say they were burned by some one pretending to sell them the currency needed for a Cadiro buy but instead entered the instance and stole the item by buying it themselves. Asynchronous trade to just bring up a buy/sell window instead of having to enter the other players hideout would stop these kinds of bad players.
