Sound bug.

Just encountered this issue after the downtime today, restarting(twice) fixed it.
getting the same problem with unit speech since today
FOr me and my machine, this was happening consistently after I ALT+TABed from fullscreen PoE. Dunno. I changed the settings to run in Windowed and that works around it somehow.

I'm not so sure that fix will stay working...

I run windowed and get the same thing! It's happened two or three times to me since 3.0.

Most recently in Act 5 when engaging Utula; his opening dialogue "distorted" the sound and was unintelligible.

Ambient sounds and dialogue continue to be "distorted" until client restart.

At least now it seems safe to believe it's not just my new headphones...

happened to me in eternal laboratory just now, thought my headset was dying heh

edit; exiting lab messed up other sounds, had to restart game to fix, switching acts didn't work.

Same here. Started end of Act 9 and got progressively worse until I feared it was going to crash the driver. Definitely some bad sound processing going on. Unless there is something stealing the latency.
Exactly the same issue here, since the act 1.
I play in windowed.
It start randomly when i start a discussion with an NPC.
The only fix i have found is restarting the game.

Also having this bug
My problem went away. I updated my drivers, but it didnt seem to work.

But after a while my game crashed (poe seems to crash a lot in fall of oriath)

After the crash the sound was back to normal..but my regular crashes remain.
I've had this problem since I reached Highgate yesterday. It only starts happening once I talk to NPCs but then it stays until I close the game. I play fullscreen window mode and I have an Asus Xonar DGX sound card. I had my channels set to low and reverb on, going to try changing those settings and see if it helps.

Update: It's been behaving itself until today where I clicked Leo in my hideout, as I walked off the static sound came back.
