I was also thinking why not put a darkshrine outside each of the 2 early encounters with Izaro. If you touch that darkshrine, the mechanics cannot be disabled regardless of what they are. Otherwise, the player can try to deal with the mechanics to the best of his or her abilities. This would make it significantly easier to avoid killing things and missing out on a treasury key because you weren't careful. All mechanics would then always be carried over to the end.
