[3.0] Berserker BLS Shaper Farmer on a Budget - Millions of BALLS, DPS and INFO Inside! - VP, RT, US

As a returning player from years ago... would this be a reasonable build for me to use in HC and endgame HC?

Thanks.

Yes, this build should work well for HC. I'm not a careful player and I expect to hit level 99 this weekend (LSC). The highest I've ever gotten before was level 96 (also SC). I wouldn't have gotten to 98 or 99 with a less tanky build.

For HC, you might want to take more life nodes and a bit less damage. Scion life brick, Bloodless, and Revenge of the Hunted are the most efficient clusters. If you want to be even tankier, there's a bunch of life along the left edge of the tree near the marauder start, but you'll probably lose too much damage for those to be worth taking.

Depending on the content you like to do, you could use spectral throw instead of molten strike. Molten is much better for boss killing, but spectral throw is nicer for power leveling, especially with double beyond.

Here's the path of building code for my current setup with spectral throw. I have 8170 life with headhunter, one inspired learning jewel, and bisco's collar. With real gear and jewels, I have almost 9k life. After I hit level 99, I expect to switch back to molten strike and return to boss carries. Not enough time left in the league for me to get my first level 100.

Looks like I found my 'returning build'.

Cheers for all the research/work and sharing it.

First thank you for making such a great guide. Your tankier variant is by far the best of the 3 ways I've played around with BLS

I'm staying @ 94 so i opted for barbarism instead of the EVA/life% points near VP in your POB. Would iron reflexes be worth it for the additional phys DR or is it pointless?

Still working on +3 enchant but i'd like to know if anyone sees any glaring issues with gem choices or other room for improvement with my gear/build.

thanks!

Barbarism is definitely a worthwhile option. There's a lot of freedom to adjust damage versus defense with the tree. Life options I'm constantly looking at are Revenge of the Hunted, Tireless, Barbarism, and Juggernaut. If you do take Barbarism, there's a jewel socket 3 points away. Damage options I'm always looking at are Forces of Nature, Elemental Focus, the Ranger's start, Arsonist, Celestial Judgement (taking the fire damage path not the WED one), and Catalyse. Currently I'm playing around with stacking jewel sockets (8 right now).

Iron Reflexes depends a lot on your gear. I only have 620 evasion so it's definitely not worth the 3 points for me. You have Devoto so it's not as bad a choice for you. That said, I feel like armour is pretty useless until you get 20k for normal mobs or 50k-75k for bosses. The massive reduced effectiveness versus large hits is what makes it problematic, and the tooltip damage reduction is really misleading for those large hits. As an aside, I briefly tried dropping my Basalt flask after respeccing back into DPS mode and found that was too dangerous for Shaper. Perhaps a decent armour pool would have made it okay.

Your gear looks fine.

The crit chance is wasted on Kraken Stone, so you might want to keep a lookout for a 4-stat replacement. If you don't mind being overcapped by less, you can upgrade Soul Splinter. Since you're using Devoto, it's probably worth keeping the 2nd Inertia, but it's possible to beat it with a 4-stat rare.

You'll get a tiny bit more DPS and life (7415 versus 7394) by dropping Barbarism and one 5% life node and taking Revenge of the Hunted instead. You'll lose the +1 max res though.

Thanks for the help! Every bit of life% matters so dropping barbarism is probably the right move

I think I'll try to rework gems (dropping one inertia) to get dual resist 7% lifers. I think i'm within striking range of weakness overcap. Probably going to be $$$ unless I get lucky.

Think I should slam that belt? reeeeeeeeeeeeee

I do suggest checking on Path of Building before replacing Inertia, with the exact jewel you intend to use. It could go either way.

Nah, I wouldn't yolo the belt.

Hi,
I'm interested to start your build for the 2 Week Turmoil Race. Do you think the support of BLS-Drops are good enough to start that build? And until I can buy a BLS what would be a good alternative weapon? Just raw DPS?
Thx in advance. :)

BLS is a Tempest-only unique. From what I can tell Tempest won't be part of the 2 week race and Zana still won't have an option to buy into that mod. I don't see any available at all on Beta Standard. I suggest planning around other weapons for the two-week. If they do happen to appear, then you could always respec or reroll.

CaptainWARLORD has an interesting Hyaon molten strike build I've started looking at. It should play similarly: elemental molten strike berserker. At least with his gear and current PoB code, he has a bit less life (6.9k versus 7.2k to 9k) and definitely lower DPS but his build has plenty of both. His build doesn't rely on league-specific uniques which is a huge plus. His APS is much lower so that'll affect clearspeed, ability to dodge stuff, etc. He does rely on EO with a 9.1% crit chance; that should be fine for mapping but will mean isolated bosses will be harder because it'll take a while to get EO running. If I was doing the 2 week race, there's a really good chance I'd copy and tweak his build.

Is the Wiki page wrong then? According to http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Brutus%27_Lead_Sprinkler it was Torment and Torment is part of the Turmoil, or am I wrong? But nonetheless thanks for the link.
