Were the aura / blasphemy nerfs intentional?
Curse radius got absolutely crushed by this change. Basically anything with a small radius that didn't get a significant base radius boost got severely nerfed.
The big problem with blasphemy is between the curse gem itself and the blasphemy you get 80% increased aoe, which affect a brutally small initial area. This means any further increases to area you get from the tree have an extremely small effect on the reach of the curses. Contagion got a small base radius boost, but it wasn't nearly enough to offset the fact every contagion was linked to increased aoe gem and that gem got relatively obliterated. End result is contagion has trouble with medium gaps in monster packs it previously had no issue jumping. |

I just want to confirm that blasphemy is totally fucking useless. I can't hardly leech anything on my whispering ice build. It's made the build total shit. I've switched over to curse on hit as that curses
further away, but it's also not as reliable :( Why are they taking away the fun? I don't get it. Blasphemy was one of the best ideas I've ever seen implemented in a game. It's now complete dog shit. |

But seriously, the problem is most (all?) attack skills had their base area changed so that it was consistent with pre-update, since most attacks have a starting radius i believe instead of starting area. The problem with blasphemy (and auras!) is that they did *not* get their base values changed. Auras still only grant +20 for quality, which based on the scaling should now be about 2 - 2.5% per quality. Blasphemy has the same problem, but with level instead of quality. I mean, I usually use curse on hit until i can get blasphemy going (since it has much heavier gear requirements for my build *cough*shavs*cough*) but given that blasphemy's radius isn't much bigger than ball lightning (which curses 360 around you in melee range anyway) I think i'll just stick with CoH. The most dangerous things for me are the ranged attackers, and i'm going to get pounded just trying to get into melee range to activate Blasphemy so it'd be better to dodge stuff manually. |

Just coming back to say it definitely feels like curses and auras are going to need an AoE buff. I hope GGG sees this and understands how limiting it is to build diversity in its current nerfed state.

" Maybe they're pushing us towards CWDT, Cast on Crit (proc with Orb of storms or something else), Curse on Hit etc. Which kinda sucks because that takes at least 3 or 4 links and Blasphemy only needs 2 links. But at least there's options?? Timezone: GMT +10 (Australia). CASUAL player but I play whenever I can.

Yeah its easier just go CI all the time. I make great pride staying life while everyone did smart thing and went CI. But only way I did this was running enfeeble on blas last few patch.
