Were the aura / blasphemy nerfs intentional?

I think its fine tbh, I thought it was a tad overkill to be able to automatically curse the screen without doing anything. Now you may have to invest into AoE for curses to get something out of it. Is it a nerf... sure, but I feel like the game might be heading for a change in pace come 3.0. This is just the start.

Now I may be completely wrong on this.. but personally I feel that this league is part 1 of game changes while 3.0 will bring other changes that bring other things in line. The current power of some skills, uniques, that didn't get touched in this league probably will be looked at next league.

Did you even read the initial post?


The pictures are all labeled by how much investment nets how much radius. Shows old and new ranges. If you spec'd all 5 aura clusters on opposite sides of the skill tree you'd still only be able to hit melee range with your curse auras.


RIP Slow and Safe builds. More people converted to flavor of the league op-meta builds.

You can't use a blasphemy aura to curse everything on screen anymore. Seems to me blasphemy is finally working as intended. Blasphemy is meant for short range builds to use offensive curses. And it still works fine for that purpose. Using it as a defense mechanism to just universally curse everything does not work anymore nor does it work for ranged builds which try to kill things off screen. This is an example of the kind of AOE abuse they tried to address with the change in AOE mechanics.
To me this seems like its working exactly as intended. I wouldn't hope for a reversal or a big boost of blasphemy AOE.

Yeah cause all the meta builds don't just facetank stuff with the trinity of HighBuffer/HighDPS/HighLeech... HoWA Anyone?

Can you back up your claim that you somehow know how blasphemy was intended to be used?

Can you even list one OP meta build that required cursing ranged attackers for defensive purposes (which is now impossible)?

Basically can you back up anything you said?

That's a pretty massive nerf, considering all the actual meta builds had their base area increased to compensate as well as the adjustments to the AoE nodes.

Gotta remember that the purpose of the change wasn't to nerf every AoE skill, it was to reduce the effectiveness of those fringe min/max builds that literally took *every* AoE booster in the tree or gear wise so that they could kill things 2 screens away. The exception to that i guess is the AoE support gem, they clearly stated they were nerfing that heavily.

Having curses only extend to outer melee range is just silly, might as well use curse on hit and two additional auras instead.

Maybe GGG would look at it quicker if this thread were in the feedback section?

I have to think that they didn't intend to reduce the area by almost half at max levels. Pre-change a 20 blasphemy-curse went out to 60ish units and now it is only out to 35. As is blasphemy is useless.

Agreed. I will see if I can get a mod to move this into feedback. Blasphemy is useless now.

Well that change makes it quite hard to maintain any kind of charges with blasphemy if you are not melee, unless you pre curse on hit (or use it with your main skill, kek). Pre cursing is somewhat boring, but it is the way to go, if this is intended and stays.
I would not dare to say it increases build diversity, tho.

p.s. As previous posters mentionend above, ironically it does not affect the HoWA, BV, BF.
