Path of Exile: The Fall of Oriath

I feel like I'm reading a different thing to everyone else.

Sounds boring and a little pointless. I've already done acts 1-4 a number of times and didn't give a flying duck about the story just the xp number going up. It makes no difference to me if I play through multiple repeats of the same acts or 10 different ones just once. I'm still just mindlessly killing mobs and hoping things drop. Unless the end game has changed, after act 10, it's all a little inconsequential what happens before it.

From a development point of view I can see how it will be nice to have the 10 act run through to show new customers rather than having them playing the same acts over and over 3 times but for a player that's already levelled a char or two it's all a little pointless what happens before end game since everything changes afterwards and everything you did to level up beforehand becomes irrelevant.

For me, so far, all this expansion is, is the equivalent to ringing a technical support help line and instead of having to press 1 then 3 followed by 5, 2,4,2,2,8 in order to speak to someone we now just press 1 however the end result is still the same and that person has no idea what they're talking about, we just get through to them quicker.

This is assuming there aren't any changes to the end game as well to co-inside with the changes to beginning of the game. I hope there are. Till then there'll be no hype from me just an indifferent 'meh'.

When I read the news item, I skipped the detail here and went straight to the announcement.

" Not only have we removed the Cruel Difficulty and added Act 5, we've also removed Merciless Difficulty and added Acts 6 through 10. Yes, you read that right! It's one ten-act playthrough."

I got the mistaken impression that we would be getting Act 5 in June/July, and Acts 6 to 10 at a later date. When I saw that everyone posting here seemed to think that we would be getting Acts 5 to 10 from day one, I went back to the news section and discovered the error of my ways!

There isn't much detailed information on this site yet, but what I see, I like.

Acts 1-4 = 0 resistances mod.
Acts 5-7 = -20 res mod (like Cruel).
Acts 8-10 = -60 res mod (like Merciless).

Probably just -6 res per act

That or straight up nerf % elemental resistance mods on all items.
