Path of Exile is Coming to Xbox One!

You know, I just recently quit playing Marvel Heroes because of all the changes they made to their PC client gearing up for a console release and all I can think about right now is how drastically (and negatively in my opinion) Marvel Heroes has changed for an upcoming (albeit unannounced as of yet) console release and how Path of Exile, more than likely, is going to follow the same trend.

Very disheartening news for me. It's great GGG seems to be growing and expanding but I simply don't see how they can manage to keep both clients separate.

First of all, this trailer is insanely good. It's so well edited and put together, that it makes me excited and also keeps that feeling from the beginning to the very end. Amazing, well done guys!
But... I see an upgrade of the UI which is not meant for the PC version... We asked so many times for so long, for the improvement of the UI, that currently has some issues. Simple things like buffs and debuffs are stacking to the infinty and beyond, which is not "clear" at all. Also, auras and temporary buffs are sharing the same position with debuffs, like... come one guys. Don't get me wrong, because the whole x-box thing is great. It looks good, it's a great aim towards gathering new players from other platforms, not only the PC ones, but maybe, just maybe think about your PC players a little bit more. Don't show us beautiful cake and tell it's for someone else. :D

Indeed in all manners!

Guys, let's remember that Gaming is a MARKET < they need money. This is a business.

Of course they'll expand their business if they can.

- They won't let the PC version outdated or un-fixed.
- They won't ruin their own game.

GGG knows how to deal with the gaming market, and they're doing ir right from my point of view.

We don't even know what they got prepared for us on the 3.0 EXP.

And I don't know you guys, but if i'm with GGG and i'm playing THEIR game, part of the success they achieve will be shared with me. As a community member. Right ?

I mean, more money means they can make this game even more awesome, fix stuff more quickly, fix MORE STUFF MORE QUICKLY, create MORE CONTENT. So why are you guys complaining about it ? If its a great step for them, its a great step for us too! We're a team. Don't forget that. But even more, don't forget that we play THEIR game. Not the opposite. We need their game to have fun, and they need our money to keep the game alive.

no trading in the xbone world would make it a hardcore game after all

Let the games begin
This is the end of path of exile. it was nice knowing you.
Well, I'm not sure how to feel about this. Best of luck, I guess. If more revenue comes in, that helps everyone (as long as problems don't multiply even more than the revenue).

As others have mentioned, I too would like to know what this means for trading and loot. Is patch 3.0.0 going to include some substantial trading improvement, as would be needed for a console game? And what about loot filters - how're they gonna work? Or are we getting the Loot 2.0 treatment now? Considering PoE's greater complexity, that would be...challenging, to say the least...

Also, I haven't seen anyone else mention this but...it's curious you didn't showcase PvP at all in that trailer. Console gamers typically love PvP (while hating slower strategy stuff) as compared to PC players. So how come that wasn't showcased? Does that mean you've finally given up on making PvP a thing?

And besides that, another thing I noticed was that this is the first PoE trailer (besides the intro to character classes ones all those years ago) featuring rendered cutscenes (the trial part at the beginning of the trailer). As I understand it, you guys chose not to invest in things like that cos they're expensive in favor of devoting more time (and money) to developing the game instead. So does this represent another change in stance? Is more effort going to be put into making this game 'cinematic' now? I personally have always agreed with your earlier choice of sacrificing cinematics for gameplay.

Finally, this was developed by your Dx11 guys, you say? Well, I'm afraid the Dx11 version still has a lot of major issues that haven't been sorted yet and now we find out they've been busy working on something completely different. Not only that, but given how well the Dx11 change went, I'm rather concerned that this port might end up made just as...well, problematic, shall we say.

Look forward to more deets soon. This was unexpected, but so have many other things in this game's history (ascendancy classes, for instance). In the end, things turned out okay, so I'm not writing you guys off like many of these other 'panic button' nerds here. So best wishes, GGG, and DFTBA! :)

P.S.: Also, since at this point all bets are off, I'm just gonna ask you to go ahead and make an offline SSF game and/or a long duration cutthroat league. I mean, seriously, you guys have been 'experimenting' with cutthroat forever. And whatever happened to the custom supporter leagues that were promised all those years ago? Sounds like they might be an even bigger revenue opportunity.

Look, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong if they somehow pull this off and will gladly even put money into it if they are successful with it.

But coming from a person that has experienced plenty of games that have died due to porting to console, I've seen first hand what a death sentence doing this is for a game. You'll have to split your resources in half, then eventually will have to dumb down the pc version to make porting future content for consoles easier to do. This will chase off your core dedicated player base. This player base will be filled with kiddie 12-yos that have no money to invest into the game. So then it more or less becomes a handful of casuals left of PC and the game will basically up and die. No matter how many promises you make that this won't happen, it has ALWAYS HAPPENED IN THE PAST. As in a 100% rate of the game failing afterwards. This is why you see a lot of QQ in this thread over it. It has nothing to do with "pc master race" and everything to do with even a fully fledged, multi-billion dollar company like blizzard not even being able to adequately split resources between pc and console properly. So how a small company like GGG is going to do that, I don't know and it definitely comes off as a bit arrogant to think that they'll somehow be different.

I would be amazed beyond belief if GGG was somehow the gaming company to break that curse and actually make it work. But there's still a lot of issues that need fixing with PC version that I feel should have been addressed first. Many people, including myself, were buying mtx and supporter packs thinking that this money would go towards improving the PC game and had no clue that they were funding a console version. Had I known, I would never have given even a single penny to it because I would never support a game company committing financial suicide.

I'm glad that Path of Exile is expanding, but this is a bad direction and a bad business move. It's also a big middle finger to people that have been paying real money into the company thinking that it was going to go towards supporting the necessary improvements that this game sorely needs, like a decent trading system other than being forced to use third-party sites to make happen. And just because I got one supporter pack under my forum name doesn't mean I haven't been spending money over the last 4-5 leagues that I've been playing this game. I've even been trying to talk some friends into playing this game because of how awesome I thought the f2p model was.

The only thing I can take away from this is that GGG is likely going to implement some kind of in-game trading system because that's the only way I can see console players being able to trade in the game.

God help me, I hope I'm wrong. I love this game to death and wanna see it succeed. But this is the type of thing that completely kills off a game.
