Can someone please look at my character and explain to me how everyone is getting 40-55% crit chance when I can barely get past 30 using ice golem

You get it using Increased critical strikes in 6-link setup, sword nodes and crit nodes in tree. Also Herald+curse on hit+assassin mark for more crit.
In what order should the Ascendancy points be spent in Raider?

I have everything you said, yet I see people linking their character sheets with 40-50% crit chance sitting in hideout when I only have 30%
Make your characters public and we'll take a look. My guess is that the base crit of your sword is low. I have ~53% in hideout, with a 7.59% base crit chance sword.

@Raxero: there's an answer in the first 10 pages of this thread I think. Personally I went all the way to avatar of the slaughter first.

Made it public
Well, your sword crit is not terrible. But overall, I have 0.75 more base crit on the sword, and my crit strike gem is level 21/20q, so that's a 0.95 base difference all things considered, and +28% crit chance from the quality. I think the base crit difference definitely adds up to a lot since we get quite a few crit nodes (as well as the gem). So basically just be patient ;) level the gem to 20, and get a better sword, and your crit chance should climb.

If I were you, I would change the sword as soon as possible. Your attack speed is way too low. That's the number one stat you should focus on at first, then flat lightning damage, then crit.

edit: something like that should improve your dps by a lot, for 20c:

Is something like this https://i.gyazo.com/816dcfddfa6638db0871969c34f56876.png better than what you linked?
What do you think about Darkray Vectors +2 frenzy boots in this build?
Damn that would be an amazing sword if the attack speed wasn't so bad. It could be better, because it has amazing crit and crit multi and way more ele damage. BUT I still maintain that the attack speed is fundamental, because most of your damage comes from wrath and added lightning, not the damage on the weapon (and especially not the elements other than lightning), so you want to apply this damage as often as possible.

If you have the time and really care, you could import your character in Path of Building, it's really easy. Then just edit the sword data with the sword you linked, and compare the dps. Because I can't say which one is better for sure.

The issue to me is the 40% reduced duration. If you only run shaped strand, and that there is never any downtime between packs, then I guess it's fine. But without your frenzy charges, as raider, you're NOTHING, so loosing them more often that we should is pretty bad.
Also the fact that it has poor resists, no life and no INT will make it way harder to squeeze in dps on your other slots like jewelery and maybe gloves.
And the movement speed is not very useful to us.
So yea, I think I'd take a rare over this (plus you can get a rare with +1 frenzy, even if it's more expensive, so in the end it would be only a difference of 1 frenzy).

That's just my view tho, I'm no expert. Feel free to try it and let us know how the 40% reduced duration feels.
