I would say Rico's alphas version posted recently is the best version without enlighten lvl 4. I think he is still testing it out so may need to wait for him to give feedback. Here's the post.

I dont think it would - you still need aura effectiveness, reduced mana reserv, stats, jewels, VP/GR, etc.

Tree is basically same, I need some lvl ups a better shield and tons of chroms to test full setup. Currently Im testing it with 440 shield and only lvl 23 Discipline (rechroming alphas for 4 off colors is pain in the ass) and my es is just 6k at character lvl 91. Will reach 6.5k at lvl 92 with a better shield and 7k at lvl 94 with better shield and lvl 26 Discipline.

A few leagues ago i saw a Mjölner build that remove Arc and put Ball of Lightning for Bosses because of high damage.

His set up Path Finder Ascendacy Non-RT:

Mjölner: BL + LP + Discharge

Shield: CDWT+IC+Ice Golem

Helmet: HoT + RF + Empower lv4 + Enhance lv4

Chest: Molten Strike + Fortify + Multi Strike+ GMP + FA + Add.Acuracy

Boots: PoF + Leap Slam + Haste + ?

Gloves: PoI + Discipline + Wrath + Enlighten lv4

This was basically (probably) because of some weird bug. You can test it if it still exists.

Basically the conclusion was that BL was generating charges with each target hit vs shocked/burning/chilled targets. And this was not suppose to happen as generating charges with Romiras is per skill cast.

However I was not entirely convinced by that as the same thing was happening vs Atziri, and she cannot be frozen, shocked nor ignited.


EDIT: Yep, it seems its still there. Heres a quick video of using the BL setup. Basically BL-Discharge-Life leech and Cyclone-FA-Life gain on hit, MS setup and rest of gear and gems being unchanged:

As you can see vs single target facetank with BL, Discharge goes with 5/5 charges 99% of the time. You can see this by looking at endurance charge numbers, its 5 99% of time, meaning 5 power charges where consumed. And dmg done to bosses feels larger. Feel free to test this yourself vs Arc setup. Im curious about your conclusions.

It may be a dumb question, but i gotta ask. How effective is this build with "normal" gem levels (lvl 3 enlighten and empower, lvl 20 auras and 20/20 curses)?

I have most of the gear lying around in essence and really wanted to go for this build, but i don't expect to successfully corrupt all those gems.

With Alphas Howl setup you dont need empower (if you dont min/maxing and just want it to work), only lvl 21 PoF + PoL. In normal setup you need both lvl 21 Puritys and at least lvl 3 Empower.

You can do it however with lvl 20 puritys + lvl 2 empower + Alphas Howl and one lvl 3 Enlighten. As running with just lvl 20 puritys is not a good idea (you loose +2 max to resistances). But you need good gear, mainly high ES Shield and belt also with some resistances and chaos resistance somewhere in your gear. You need Conqueror's Efficienty jool thou. Heres an Aura setup for lvl 20 Puritys and Alphas Howl, where first aura group (on the top) is socketed in Alphas:

Second group is in Shavs, however 5l Shavs will do, just socket AA somewhere alone.

If life wont be enough after all the reservation for comfortable play you can unlink Discipline from Empowered Puritys in your Alphas.

I guess that's as "budget" as this build gets :)

Well, i'll definetly try to get some lvl 21 purity gems, but until then, alpha's it is.
